The light fractures in through the cracked window. Three months and I still haven't got it fixed since Kelsi fought with her boyfriend, Bradly. They hardly ever argue. She accused him of cheating with some random chick and she turned out to be his cousin. You would think that after dating each other for six years they would trust each other more. She threw her phone at it and it's been cracked ever since, not to mention her phone completely shattered.

I promised her I would stay. I was technically done with this year early last week, but Kelsi refused to let me leave. She actually begged me for thirty minutes with her big puppy eyes and baby voice. She annoyed me into staying. My bag lies across the room packed with my change of clothes for today laying on top. The clock to my left reads 11:47. I should have been up hours ago. Like I even care, I have no where special to be. Out of sheer laziness I roll myself out of bed, literally. I go to the floor with a thud. I stare at the pale champagne colored ceiling, the paint is cracked and peeling.

I slowly bring myself to my feet and get dressed. I do a little wiggle to get into my dark wash skinny jeans. My T-shirt is a deep red with black lettering that reads "Waffles are just flat, boring pancakes" in cursive lettering, I made it myself. I slip on my grey vans that have the rubber detached from the shoe, I should get a new pair when I get home. I drag my suitcase down the hall and out the front door to my car. I slam the trunk shut...Kelsi still has 30 minutes left of class, a 30 minutes of sleep I will never get back. I grab my penny board from the back seat and head away from the dorms. There is a Zoup just outside of campus. That place is literally heaven on earth.

The bell goes off as I enter and find no line. The cursive words along the ceiling always amuse me.

"Hi there!" The lady behind the counter chirps and a way too happy voice. "What can I get for you?" She smiles brightly.

I scan the options, even though I know I'll get the same thing I always get. "Can I get a bowl of the chicken pot pie soup with French bread for here please?" She nods and gets to work. The smell of all the soups together is a mix of delicious and slightly disgusting.

I sit down at a table near the windows, purposely sitting far from other people. I am not a morning person, or really a people person either.

"Tonnie?" I hear the girl say. I give her my thanks and take my food. The light is almost blinding as noon approaches. I cover my eyes with my hand. I eat my soup faster than I intended too. Must be because I slept through breakfast. My phone makes a ringing sound that sounds like a bird whistle.

Kels: I see you ;)

Suddenly there is a slam against the window and I see her face pressed up to the glass, it is smushed and a strand of her long blond hair is under her nose. I quickly attempt to take a picture before she pulls away. It turned out blurry and leaves me unsatisfied.

"How did I know you would be here?" She laughs and sits down. Bradly sits down next to her and kisses her temple.

"Can you guys chill with the PDA?" I chuckle and make an X with my fingers in front of my face.

"Well hi to you too Ton." He wraps his arm around Kelsi's shoulders. The props of being single, watching couples be couples.

"Aren't you guys going to eat?" I rest my chin on my palm.

"We ate after class." Kelsi talks in that giggly voice she uses when she is in public with Bradly. "Happy summer!" It looks almost as if she will jump out of her seat. This was a long awaited day.

"Yeah. Happy summer." I sigh. The idea of leaving sucks. I turn to look around the restaurant.

"I can't believe you!" She slaps my arm from across the table. I hear Bradly chuckle.

"What?" I whine while rubbing my arm in fake pain.

"Dude." She brushes his arm off her shoulder and stands up.

"What?" I ask again with more force.

"You live in fricken Los Angles!" Her eyes are crazy as she shakes my shoulders.

"I'm aware."

"Listen, I would give anything to live where you live! LA sure beats living in Chicago."

"Yeah, but you have friends here. When I go home, I live in my own house by myself. Not to mention my annoying neighbors, frat boys, and tools that need to chill with the axe." I am beginning to get bored with this. I stand up and head toward the door. "Later." I wave backhandedly.

"Tonnie wait!" She grabs my wrist. I always forget she runs track for our college, Valparaiso. I turn around with an annoyed look on my face. "See you tonight at Giardono's right?"

"Wouldn't miss it."
