The Small Black Box

I awoke to Demetrius walking in with a tray. "Did someone order room service?" He asked kissing my forehead. It was eggs, bacon and toast.

"You shouldn't have." As he sat down next to me, he placed a small black box on the tray next to my orange juice. " what's this? "

"You don't have to look or answer me yet, I'm just giving it to you now so you know it's always there." I ignored him and opened it anyways. It was a massive ring, with beautiful diamonds and ruby's covering it. I shut the box as fast as I could and moved the tray, throwing myself at him.

"Yes! Yes!!! Oh yes!!!!"

" Really? I didn't think you'd say yes right now, I was just making sure that you knew it was there after all of this. "

"Did you not hear a word I said last night? This is everything I could ever want."

" Well then, after all of this and your graduation we will start planning a wedding. " He kissed me passionately and then sat me back down shoving my tray in front of me. "Eat, you haven't eaten in all the time I've been with you."

" It's stress. " I lowered my head and started to nibble at some toast.

"Yeah well I need you alive and healthy to marry you! So eat, wash up and I will place that ring on your finger personally." I felt as if I was in a fairy tale. Even with everything that's happening, my life was beaming.

" Have you talked to anyone yet? " I asked nervously. How would everyone feel if they knew that we were here enjoying ourselves throughout this?

"Everyone landed safely, they are where they need to be. Your mom is on her cruise, a friend of ours is keeping a close eye on her. I told my parents that I was going to propose and they were ecstatic, as was Rose. It's just your mom I have to ask and then announce to. But we'll worry about that after all of this. For now we'll enjoy ourselves as my father and I figure out a plan so we can go back home."

" Do we really have to go home after all of this? " Once home, I knew this whole fantasy would be over, and I'd be back in my ordinary and boring life.

"Well, I've talked to Adam about buying this house from him and he said he would sell it. So after our wedding and everything if you'd like to move here, it'll be ours. But for now, after we get through this, you do have to go back and finish school and graduate. You can't have your cake and eat it to." He winked and kissed my forehead on his way out of the room.

I finished my food, washed my dishes and then washed myself up. I put on one of the newer dresses Demetri had bought me, and went down to the living room to find him putting together something large and wooden. He was surrounded by boxes, and looked as though he'd never put anything together before.

"What're you doing down here?" I asked in a giggle.

" Trying to surprise you but it seems as though I'm an idiot. I'm trying to put together an easel for you, I ordered you a bunch of paint and supplies since we don't know how long we'll be here. "

"Here, let me help." I walked over to him but he lifted his hand to wave me off.

" That defeats the purpose Alianna. I can handle this."

"Hunny, you ordered all of this and that's enough of a gift for me. I can put the thing together, just go relax. You've done way too much for me today. You're kind of going overboard." We chuckled, and he rubbed his head with the back of his arm.

"I'm sorry, I'm just so happy that I keep trying to gift you with things to make sure I'm making you happy." He walked over to me and kissed my forehead, "but giving me something to do, is better than me tearing your clothes off all day."

"Well you make me happy just by being with me, so go find something you like to do almost as much as you like tearing my clothes off"

"I mean, watching you comes close."

" That's not a hobby. " I giggled, "Besides there has to be something you can do near me that doesn't involve me."

"I guess I can listen to some music and read a book. Good thing I brought my favorite classics." He went into a closet and pulled out To Kill A Mockingbird.

And that's how we spent our beautiful rainy afternoon. Something I would love doing for the rest of my life.
