I know Keith is a fearless little child but just imagine if he had a fear of thunderstorms.

No Ones P.O.V.
Team Voltron had just freed a planet from Galra rule. Nothing new, just the routine hero procedure as Lance would say. Because of the planets size, Allura and Coran knew that the people of this planet would be a giant asset to the Voltron team and the fight against Zarkon.  Because of this, the team was to stay on the planet while the two Alteans dealt with the political aspect of the treaty.

To pass the time, the paladins were allowed to roam the town and explore around the planet while sticking relatively close to the castle. Pidge and Hunk ran off to look at all the planets technology and food. Shiro stayed behind with Allura and Coran. That just left Keith and Lance.

"Soooo where ya wanna go explore first mullet?"

"I don't care. But let's go somewhere. I can't deal with all this celebration attention anymore" mumbled the grumpy red paladin.

Lance decided not to push Keith right at that moment and started walking in some random direction. Keith jogged to catch up to Lances long strides. They walked in silence for a while before Lance saw a pink river flowing over the black rocks. Making a bee line for the water, Lance picked up a stone before skipping it across the rippling surface of the rosy liquid.

Keith stood a little ways away leaning on a tree watching the blue paladin. Not long ago Keith had began to feel strange every time he was around Lance. His heart would suddenly start beating rapidly and then his face began to feel all warm. He had asked Shiro about it but the space dad had just patted Keith's back while chuckling telling Keith he will figure it out soon enough. Keith had only heard of it in stories he heard during his travels around the universe with team Voltron, but there was no way he could be falling for the teams sharpshooter. Right?

Keith was jolted out of his thoughts by a loud splash. He looked over to see that Lance had just thrown a giant rock into the river to see how big of a splash he could make. Yeah definitely no way was Keith falling for that gorgeous Cuban boy... ok maybe a little.

It was getting dark so the two boys started heading back to the castle. Once back, they each went to their separate rooms which where right next to each other's.

Keith closed the door to his room and collapsed on the bed. There was no way around it. He was falling for team Voltron'a biggest flirt. What was he going to do? Lance would never look at him as anything more then just a team mate and fellow paladin. Keith then let out an aggravated groan before rolling out of bed to take a shower then getting ready to sleep.

Lance had been having similar problematic thoughts all day. Spending time with the temperamental red paladin had reminded him of how Keith made him feel. Lance was no stranger to the feeling of love. He knew he loved Keith. For the longest time he had known. But he kept his feelings hidden. Not wanting to upset the samurai, Lance had stuck to pushing his feelings down and covering them up with insults and challenges.

After his routine, Lance laid in bed staring out the window unable to sleep. He saw the strange clouds of this world starting to darken. Looks like it's going to rain thought Lance. Suddenly a flash of green lightning lit up the dark sky with a deafening clap of thunder following it. Lance watched the storm for a little longer before deciding he couldn't sleep and needed to take a walk. While walking out of his room an extra loud clap of thunder rang out through the castle halls. That's when Lance heard it. A quiet whimpering coming from Keith's room.

Lance walked up to Keith's door and knocked gently.

"Keith? Buddy? Are you in there?" Lance asked softly.

He heard a soft banging as if something or someone fell and hit the ground. Their was a short pause and a shuffling of feet before the door slowly creaked open. There stood Keith, a blanket wrapped around his shoulders looking as fragile as Lance had ever seen him.

"You alright Keith?" Lance asked cautiously.

"I-I'm fine. P-p-perfectly f-fine" Keith stuttered out.

That's when Lance knew something was way off. Keith looked shaken. He's never seen Keith so pale, and Keith was usually super pale, but this Keith was ghostly white and looked like he would crumble in seconds.

Suddenly a low rumble of thunder shook the castle. Lance saw Keith visibly flinch and pull the blanket tighter around his shoulders. Then another, much louder boom resonated through the halls of the massive Altean ship. Keith leapt at Lance wrapping his arms around the tall Cubans torso, burying his face in Lances chest. Keith whimpered and shook like a paper in wind.

Lance waisted no time in wrapping his lanky arms around the red paladin, bringing the boy closer to his chest. After standing there for a few minutes, Lance realized that Keith was not letting go any time soon so he scooped the boy up into his arms and carried him into the room. Lance then sat on Keith's bed, still holding Keith so he was now curled up in Lances lap.

The storm raged on outside and the two paladins just sat there in silence. The blue one cradling the red one in his arms. Lance kept whispering soft nothings into Keith's ear helping him to calm down.

The storm soon died down however neither made any move to leave the others embrace. Suddenly Lance felt Keith's arms around him loosen and a small voice croaked out "if you make fun of me or don't speak to me again I understand. I'm supposed to be a fearless paladin of Voltron. Yet a little storm is able to break me apart like this... I'm so sorry Lance I'm so so sorry..." Keith's mumbling apology was muffled by Lances chest as Keith buried his face deeper to hide his shame. At this confession Lance was stunned. He had no idea that Keith felt that this fear was such a big problem.

"Hey now. Don't go putting yourself down. We all have our fears. Even Shiro has fears. You don't always have to be brave. I'm here now. So please. Don't cry anymore" Lance whispered into Keith's hair while holding onto the boy in his lap tighter, afraid any sudden movements would shatter this moment. Gathering up all the courage he had before he had the chance to chicken out, Lance took a deep breath before pulling away and taking Keith's face in his hands. "I-I... I think I love you Keith. No.  I know I love you. You're amazing in so many wonderful ways. Don't ever think otherwise."

At this confession, Keith's body froze in his arms. Afraid he had just ruined everything Lance began to loosen his hold on the red paladin before lips were suddenly crashed into his. Keith's arms wrapped around Lances neck holding him close.

"I love you too you idiot. I love you so so much .." Keith cried out after pulling away from the kiss.

"Then from now on my love, you shall no longer brave a storm on your own. I'll remain by your side now. For as long as you will let me" Lance said softly gazing into Keith's beautiful eyes.

"Then I hope you are prepared to stay forever. For I must always be prepared for you never know when the next storm will come" Keith replied.

The two boys shared another loving kiss then fell asleep in each other's arms to the soft pitter-patter of rain on the window.

The next morning, the red and blue paladins walked hand in hand to breakfast. When they got there Pidge just smirked while Hunk and Shiro huffed both handing her twenty bucks.

"Totally called it" said Pidge smugly while the two oblivious boys just sat down hand in hand and began eating their breakfast. From here on out team Voltron was stronger then ever before, the connection establish new power and purpose.
