The Kindergarten Teacher (Modern AU)

Keith regretted telling Shiro he didn't have any plans today. Now he had been roped into babysitting Shiro's and Allura's kid. (I know they don't have a kid but just roll with it). Truth be told, Keith actually really loved the little girl. She was well behaved and an all around sweet heart with the biggest smile Keith had ever seen.

Shiro had tasked him with being a responsible adult for once in his life and taking the little munchkin to school.  Currently, Keith was attempting to strap the ever patient toddler into her booster seat as she just giggled at his failed attempts. When he finally got the stupid thing to work, he smiled and ruffled the munchkins hair before closing the door and making his way to the drivers seat.

The drive to Voltron Academy K-8 school wasn't long and soon they had pulled into a parking spot in front of the clean cut building. When Keith finally won the battle of unstrapping his niece from the booster seat he picked her up and twirled her around making her burst into a fit of giggles before placing her safely on the ground. He then quickly snatched her little pink back pack from the backseat and closed the door, locking the car before grabbing the munchkins hand and making their way towards the playground on the side where all the other kids where playing waiting for school to start.  Keith noticed a section of the playground containing five differently colored lions built for kids to climb on. He laughed a bit and made a mental note that the red one was his favorite.

"Keith! I wanna show you my teacher! He is super nice and I think you will like him!" The munchkin said while tugging on Keith's hand all but dragging him further into the throng of small children spread over the wood-chips. 

"Alright alright! I'm coming!" Laughed Keith as he allowed himself to be dragged along by the small girl.

It wasn't long before they had coming to a sudden halt in front of a very tall man conversing with a smaller women, both with their backs to them.

"Mr. McClain!" Cried Keith's niece. "I wanna introduce you to someone!" She said while tugging on the tall mans shirt.

Said man turned around and smiled down at the little girl.

"Did you say you wanted to introduce me to someone?" The man, Mr. McClain, asked with a smile while squatting down to be eye level with the little monster.

"Yeah!!! This is Keith! My uncle!"

Keith took this moment to introduce himself properly.  Or at least attempt to... for when Mr. McClain looked up Keith's heart skipped a beat and the words got caught in his throat. Staring up at him were the most beautiful blue eyes he had ever seen. Said beautiful man stood up to his full height again before extending his hand in a hand shake.

"The names Lance. Lance McClain" the teacher said smiling, blue eyes sparkling at Keith like they held the whole ocean.

Keith snapped out of his daze and shook the mans hand firmly while introducing himself as Keith Kogane, the munchkins uncle.

Soon after the brief introductions, the bell rang signaling the start of school. Keith waved goodbye to the munchkin as she followed Lance inside the nice building. As soon as the two were out of sight, Keith made his way back to the car, slowly sliding into the drivers seat. Yup it was final. Kieth would be volunteering to babysit the munchkin a lot more and that was final.

With a smile Keith drove off to run some errands before he to come back and pick his niece up, the image of blue eyes holding oceans and one of the brightest smiles Keith had ever seen playing on repeat in his mind.
