To say Lance missed his mom and his home was an understatement. He missed her and the old house and the noisy mornings and hand me downs and hugs and so so much more so terribly he would cry himself to sleep every now and then. The other paladins didn't know about this pain he was suffering and he was making sure it stayed that way. No need to give them yet another reason to believe he was just the placeholder for the real blue paladin who would come and take over Blue soon.
It was one of those nights. Tears stained his tanned cheeks, his sadness and hurt so immense that the feeling now overflowed from within him in the form of salty tears. Lance sat in the control room, looking up at a hologram of earth. The beautiful blue and green planet only sent more tears cascading down his face at the thought that he may never see it again. This trip in space was no trip at all. Lance had found himself in the middle of a full scale intergalactic war. And the universe expected him to help save it. Save everyone. But all Lance wanted to do was to go home. What everyone seemed to forget was that even though he may now be a soldier in a war of life or death, Lance was still a kid, still learning to grow and understand life.
He had been attempting to keep his cries to himself, keeping quiet as to not alert any of the paladins if any were by chance up at this ungodly hour and passing the control room for whatever reason. But he had been holding it in too long. The past couple months had been filled with constant fighting and battles against the Galra as well as parades and all that jazz for the liberation of planets, leaving little time for any alone time other then sleeping. But now there was a lull in Galra activity and all that pent up misery built up over the past couple months came crashing down in one fell swoop.
Lances quiet cries became full out loud wailing sobs. The tears flowed faster and his whole body shook from the force of his sadness being let out. Lance had no idea how much time had passed before he had calmed down slightly, hiccuping and wiping away tears that just kept coming. That's when he heard a soft knock on the door and the creaking of the panels as someone entered the room. Looking over in dismay, Lance saw that the invader was in fact Keith, his so called rival. Lance prepared to hear some snarky comment on how weak he is or what a baby he is for crying and began to visibly shake with the terror of being found out. What would the team think now? They would most defined kick him out. But instead of saying anything, Keith simply sat by Lance, scooping the fragile boy into his lap and just holding him close to his chest.
Lance fell asleep to the image of Earth and oceans and the sound of Keith's steady breathing, arms wrapped around him holding him tight.
