I woke up with Emily in my arms, her head resting under mine. I took a deep breath and looked at her. She was beautiful and she doubted it so much. She looks beautiful when she sleeps and even when she cries, and especially when she kissed me. That's when I knew she wasn't just a crush.
She wasn't just someone I thought was cute. She wasn't someone who I'd like then move on. She was the love of my life. I wanted to have her for the rest of my life and I would stop at nothing for her. I smiled at her.
Emily shifted a bit in her sleep and then looked up at me and smiled. She sat up, fixed her hair, and pulled on her shoes. She grabbed her phone and went to grab her purse before I stopped her.
"Emily, what are you doing?" I asked. "Thank you for last night, Gray, but I need to go home," She responded. My smile quickly faded. "'Thanks'?" I asked again.
"Look, Grayson, I need to go," She repeated as I got up and walked towards her. "Em, wait, c-can I at least treat you to coffee?" I asked, making puppy dog eyes. She smiled at me and glanced down for a second. "Fine. Your treat." I grabbed my shoes that I kicked off last night and put them on, grabbing a coat after. I eagerly grabbed my keys and shut the door behind us.

We got to a cute and quiet coffee shop on West 10th. We ordered coffee, obviously, and sandwiches. I could tell Emily was starving by how frantically she was darting her eyes across the menu. The coffee came to our table and we both took a sip.
"So, what happened last night?" I asked, looking up at her. She bit her lower lip. "I-I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw t-this picture of them, making out!" She said, tripping over her words. "It hadn't even been more than what, two hours that we had been broken up? How dare that bitch!" She exclaimed, slamming her fist onto the table, earning a few looks from the people in the shop.
I reached my hand out and lightly placed it on top of hers. "Chill. He's not worth your aggravation," I said. "B-But you don't understand, Gray! I l-" She started, before I interrupted her.
"I do understand, Emily. Don't you remember Meredith? How she cheated on Ethan? And said it in a video?" I said, "He was heartbroken. And you are too. So yes, I do understand."
Emily presses a finger against her lip. "Sorry," Escapes from her mouth. A long pause of silence commenced and I took a sip of my coffee.
"What did you feel last night?" She asked, breaking the silence. I almost choked on my coffee.
I looked up at her and clenched my jaw.
What did I feel? I felt intoxicated with love because you kissed me back. I felt crazy in love and I was so happy that you had shown it too."W-what did you feel?" I asked back, putting my cup down.
"Gray, answer. I asked you first." Damnit.
"If you want my completely honest opinion, I'm glad you two broke up, because he was toxic to you and he was slowly ruining your life. Then when I came to you last night and you were crying, it broke my heart to see you like that. No one should ever make you feel that way. To make you question why someone would like you. And when I kissed you...and you kissed me back, I knew my feelings for you were real." I said.
"Grayson, I-I has no idea you had feelings for me," Emily responded. "Well, you can't help who you fall in love with," I answered, as Emily arose from her seat.
"Emily, come o-" I started to say before she leaned over me and kissed me.
