Titles are hard

As I woke up with a major headache my mind ran back to Chad. I knew that loving him was bad but we had so much history and he seemed sorry in the bathroom. We were kissing though so my judgment was clouded. I decided to call Mandy and meet her for brunch.

I slipped on my favorite sweatpants, black T-shirt, and my converse. Then I tip-toed out of the dorm since Taylor was still asleep.

I soon got to I-Hop and saw Mandy waiting for in a booth.Of course, she was waving like a crazy person. My bestie was a morning person but I was not.

"Stop being so happy Mandy," I growled as a slid into the cold chairs. Why couldn't someone warm these things?

' Well I am glad to see you're in a good mood." she replied sarcastically.

" I'm sorry it's just there is a lot going through my brain right now.' I said.

" Spill cause I have something I need to tell you," Mandy urged.

' You know I have been thinking about giving Chad a second chance, I put it off because of Matt but he obviously did not pick up what I was putting down,' I sighed.

' First of all, you should never in your entire life get back together with Chad, he is a douche and obnoxious, second you really need to stop talking like that Nat," My besties teased.She could never be serious without cracking a joke.However, her words erased all thoughts of forgiving Chad.

' This is why I love you, so tell me your big news.' I probed.

" Well...... Jack proposed last night" She squeaked. I was not surprised because he told he planned to last month. I was wondering how long he was going to wait.

"Wow! Mandy this is great. I cannot wait to start planning your wedding!" I squealed. The waiter finally made it to our table cutting off whatever Mandy was about to say.

"Hi, can I take your order," The waiter said. He was kinda cute. I read his name tag. Charles.

" We'll have two orders of red velvet pancakes with some bacon," I replied while looking through my lashes. Mands, of course, was trying not to laugh at my attempt at flirting.

" Alright ladies I'll be back with your hot cocoas," Charles said while smirking. I wished the ground would swallow me whole at that moment.

" Nattie I just tell you about my engagement and the first thing you try to find a wedding date," She quipped.I groaned and buried my head in my arms. This day was already a bust.

" Cheer up he's coming back," MAndy told me. I listened and sat straight and thought of a way to not be awkward. It is so much harder than people think.

Charles set our drinks down and I swear he smiled at me. I blushed furiously and my so-called best friend had the nerve to laugh while thanking him.

'Mandy, you are supposed to be my wingman, what the heck?" I whisper yelled. Mands just shrugged.

" See that is your problem, you see a pretty boy you like a pretty boy, " Mandy stated straight-faced. I couldn't help but laugh. I mean she was not wrong.

"Whatever, back to you getting married I have already appointed myself maid of honor and set a date," I told Mandy.

' You are aware of how these things work right, I am in charge, Nattie you aren't nodding, say something so I know you understand, " Mandy said raising her voice. She was so funny when she got angry.

" Yeah I understand but I don't know why you think you're in charge, we've watched bridesmaids a thousand times, the maid of honor does everything," I replied. Mandy just shook her head. Then Charles was back with our food and I was back to being self-conscious.After he gave Mandy her food Charles turned to me with a kilowatt smile.

"Hey um I've wanted to say something but that guy over there has been staring lasers at me, d you know him," Charles said. I look over to where he was pointing and Matt was sitting there. His eyes found me and I saw a wave of relief and maybe jealousy in his eyes.

" Oh I am sorry about that he is a friend of mine, excuse me I need to talk to him," I whispered in Charles' ears just to make Matt a little more jealous.I walked over to Matt and plopped into the seat beside him in the booth. I laced my fingers through his just because my hands were cold but I cannot deny that my heart beat a little faster when he squeezed my hand.

" So what are you doing here, stalking me?" I asked while fiddling with my hair.

" I was meeting Scott for breakfast he's just running late, what about you," Matt answered.

" Oh you see that crazy chick waving with the big stack of pancakes I was eating with her," I giggled because Mandy's face was covered with whipped cream. I was getting up when Matt pulled me into a kiss. It was not long but i was surprised.

"I missed you, text you later," Matt said. I stumbled back over to Mandy who had started eating my bacon.

" Hey, stop that," I growled, then took my bacon. I called Charles over and asked for a to-go box.

" Hey don't think I didn't notice what happened with Matt," Mandy reminded me while raising her eyebrows. I rolled my eyes and took my food. Mandy and I walked back to campus, hugged and went our separate ways. I got a text from Matt

Why was he like this? This boy avoids me for a week and now he is so lovey-dovey.
