Imagine not talking to your best friend for over two years because you did something stupid. I got a lot of consequences for doing that one stupid thing. I lost my best friend, had a kid at fifteen and a few others that I'll talk about later.
I'm in history class right now watching the clock until it's time to go home. It's our last period of the day. Mr. Matthews still teaches us this class. He has been for the past five years. I look at the clock, 1:49. I have a half and hour left.
"Ok class. Today's lesson is..." Mr Matthews starts and I tune him out. I didn't feel like listening today or any day.
I sitting at my desk holding my head up in one hand and doodling in my notebook in the other. I look up every couple of minutes to make it look like I'm taking notes. I sit in the back corner of the class so he won't be able to see what's on my notebook.
I look up and notice Riley staring at me. She looks back at her father, when I look up. I just half smirk and shrug my shoulders. That happens fifty times a day, five days a week for the past two years. It's like this weird thing ex friends do where they have to look at each other and know what they are doing. I think people do it because they want to know everything the other person is doing because they still care about them. At least that's what I hope.
I'm honestly kinda sick of doing that. I want us to look at each other and laugh because we did the same thing at the same exact time.
The bell rings and I pack my stuff and walk to the door. Me and Riley were about to walk out the door at the same time. I stop and back up and let her go.
"Thanks" She mumbles so quietly I could barley hear her. That's the most she has spoken to me in two years.
Normally I would go to the left and she would go right once we are out the door but I decided to do something different today. I went right.
"Hey" I say as I walk up next to her.
"Um hi" She says.
"Can we talk like somewhere private after school?" I ask.
"Don't you have a baby to take care of?" She says kinda rudely. I just shake it off.
"I do but I have some time before I need to do that" I say.
"Fine. Come to my house in twenty minutes but don't take the same route as me. I don't want a awkward walk home from school and please don't bring the kid" She says.
"I won't. I'll see you then" I say and then turn around to go to my locker.
I'm getting my stuff and Lucas comes up behind me.
"Hey. I saw you talking to Riley" Lucas says.
"I was. I'm going to her house after school today to talk to her." I say.
"That's great. Do you want a ride?" He asks.
That's the best part about having Lucas as a friend and baby daddy. He can drive. I can too but I just don't like to. He's like my personal driver. Thank god he offered me a ride. I need someone to watch our baby while I'm at Riley's. Her normal babysitter can't do it today and my mom is working late tonight.
"Sure. Can we run to my house to pick her up first?" I ask.
"Your really going to bring the baby that ruined your friendship to fix your friendship?" He asks.
"No. She's going to stay with you. Emily said she can't watch her any later then 2:40 today" I say. Emily is my baby's babysitter for when me and Lucas are at school.
