I'm Sorry {GMW}

Chapter 21

Three days later:

Riley is doing alright. She has stayed home from school the past two days, Monday and Tuesday. Her parents just think she is sick.

I'm not gonna lie school is pretty boring without her. I just have Farkle and Lucas to talk to.

Right now I'm in my room with Avery. It's almost time to put her to sleep. 

"Ready for bed?" I ask her.

"No" She says.

"It's time for bed. We can play more tomorrow" I say.

"Ok" She says.

I hold her hand and we go into her room. She climbs into her crib and tells me to read her a book. I hate reading but anything for her. 

I was half way through the book when someone knocks on the door. The front door, not the door to Avery's room.

"I'll be right back" I say.

"Ok" Avery says.

I go into the hallway and my mom was there.

"Who is knocking on the door at this time" My mom asks.

"Mom it's only eight o'clock" I say. "I'll get it though" I say.

"Ok" She says.

I go to the door and open it. It was Riley. She had her school backpack with her and had her pajamas on.

"I told my parents" She says.

"And they through you out?" I ask, a little in disbelief.

"No I left willingly." She says.

"Come in" I say.

She walks inside and I close and lock the door. We went into my bedroom. She sat on my bed and I was standing.

"What happened when you told them?" I ask.

"Mommy!" I hear my baby yell from her room.

"Hold on. I'll be right back" I say.

I leave the room and Avery was in her crib where I left her. She wasn't crying, she just wanted me there.

"Finish" She says and points to the book.

"Baby, Riley is here for a sleepover. Can I finish it tomorrow?" I ask.

"Yeah. Get me out" She says.

She is never going to go to sleep if I don't bring her with me. I kinda have no other choice.

"Alright. You can come" I say.

I take her out of the crib and hold her. I leave the room. My mom was in the hallway again.

"Who was at the door?" She asks.

"Riley. She is going to sleepover" I say.

"It's a school night" My mom says.

"I know mom. I'll explain later" I say.

"Ok. Goodnight" She says. She gives me and hug and then gives Avery a kiss. "Tell Riley I said goodnight" She says.

"I will. Goodnight" I say.

I go into my room and Riley was kinda happy to see Avery. I would expect her to have the opposite reaction. 

"You can play for a little while longer. Emily is going to appreciate that" I say. The later Avery goes to bed the later she wakes up.
