Chapter 17

Day 5; The final day

We are going home today and I couldn't be more happy about it. This entire trip I have felt like all we were doing was mixing up our feelings and doing serious stuff like fixing friendships. Now I can go home and be with my baby.

Right now we are at breakfast. We are leaving after this.

"We spent this entire week talking about our past problems. What do we talk about now?" Riley asks.

"The future" I say.

"Well the closest thing to the future right now is bringing Zay back." Lucas says. I feel bad for Lucas. He really misses him.

"Actually it's going home" I say.

"Aww Maya misses her baby" Riley tries to tease me. I didn't get embarrassed over it.

"That's right I do" I say.

"Alright class. The buses are here. Clean up your stuff and head over and start boarding" Mr. Matthews says over the loud speaker.

We all get up and clean everything then go to the buses. This time all four of us sat together in the front of the bus. I sat with Riley and Lucas sat with Farkle across from us.

We just talked the entire time. Nothing major, just dumb little things to not make the ride awkward. We didn't get into the issues and everything like we have been talking about the past few days in the cafeteria because we didn't want anyone listening. But to be honest someone was probably listening in that cafeteria.

The ride seemed like it was taking forever. It was a three hour bus ride but felt so much longer because I couldn't wait to see Avery.

After the three hours we were finally back at the school. All our parents were waiting. My mom was in the car with Avery. Avery was sitting in the passengers seat with the window rolled down waiting for me.

Me and Lucas get off the bus at the same time, we are going to the same place so that makes sense. Topanga, Cory and Josh were already off the bus and saying bye to all of us. Topanga and Cory give a generic Bye. Josh doesn't.

"Maya" Josh calls.

"Yeah" I say and turn to face him.

"It was nice to see you again" He says.

"It was nice to see you too" I say.

"I'll see you around" He says.

"Yeah. Bye" I say.

"Bye" He says and I walk away with Lucas. Lucas didn't seem to like that encounter much.

We go up to the car and Avery is jumping up and down in her seat saying "Mommy, mommy, mommy" over and over again.

"Hi baby" I say and pull her out the car window and give her a really tight hug. She gives me one back, I think that is the tightest she has ever hugged me. She had her arms wrapped around my neck and her legs wrapped around my stomach and her head was on my shoulder.

"What, your not excited to see me?" Lucas asks.

Avery picks her head up and giggles. She then reaches out for Lucas to hold her. He does and he gives her a hug.

"I missed you" Lucas says to her.

"Me too" She says.

"Hi mom" I say to my mom while Lucas is with Avery.

"Hi Maya. Did you have fun?" She asks.

"Yeah I did" I say.

"That's good" She says. "Lucas do you need a ride?" My mom asks him.

"No thank you Mrs. Hunter. My mom and dad are here somewhere" He says and hands Avery back to me.

"Bye" He says to all of us.

"Bye" I say back.

"Bye bye daddy" Avery says.

"Bye Lucas" My mom says.

He leaves and goes to his car and Riley comes over.

"Hi" She says.

"Hi" I say back.

"Hi Riley" My mom says.

"Hi" Riley says to my mom. "I just wanted to say bye" Riley says.

I give her a one armed hug since I am holding Avery. After we let go we say bye and she gives Avery a kiss on the cheek. Avery wipes it off immediately. Riley walks away and I give Avery a kiss on the opposite cheek and she leaves it. I found that funny.

I buckle Avery into her car seat and then get in the passengers seat.

"Did Shawn go home yet?" I ask as my mom was driving.

"No he's at home. He wanted to stay to see you" She says.

"Ok" I say.

The car ride home only took like five minutes. Avery seemed pretty happy. Once we got back to the apartment we parked the car. I took Avery out of her car seat and we went upstairs.

"Hi Maya. How was your trip?" Shawn asks me.

"It was good. Thank you for babysitting Avery" I say.

"It was no problem" He says. "How is everything going with Riley and everyone?" He asks.

"Not bad. We're fine to be around each other and talk" I say.

"That's good" He says.

"Mommy go play" Avery says and starts pulling me by the hand to her room.

"Ok. I'm coming" I say. "I'll see you guys later" I say to my mom and Shawn then I go into Avery's room with her.

I had a pretty clingy Avery for the rest of the day. We just kinda played together and she sat on my lap for most of it.
