      𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗛𝗔𝗗 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 gotten back to normal for the young group of teens. Well as normal as life could get when you fight vampires and figure out all the supernatural things going on in a town they once thought was boring.

     Lorelei had been doing a beautiful job of balancing her popularity and her kind of not-secret friendship with Ethan and Benny. Erica hadn't bothered her. Sarah and her hat started to hang out more like old times. Of course, it was easier for her to convince her friends she was hanging out with Sarah and Erica rather than Ethan and Benny, but she still had that babysitting job as her cover.

       But of course, no one questioned her and if they did they received a glare from the fiery redhead. Which was why no one questioned her when she glared at Benny from across the hall seeing him magically pull flowers from behind his back heading over to Della, a girl she sort of knew.

      The girl slammed her locker shut marching over to Ethan who smiled. That soon changed when she saw the glare on her face directed at his friend.

     "He does know that school is a public place?" She snapped. "He's your friend you need to watch him." She said looking around at people who passed.

Ethan raised his eyebrows. "Isn't he your friend too?"

     This made Lorelei pinch her nose. "Don't remind me that I actually care when you two do dumb things. Or that I'm basically supposed to watch over you."

      Before the conversation could continue Sarah walked up to the two smiling. "Can I talk to you guys?"

        Ethan and Lorelei looked at each other before looking back to Sarah before they both nodded and mumbled out yes and a couple of shrugs.

          "Can I borrow twenty bucks?" She looked more to Ethan before smiling sweetly. "Friend?" Lorelei knew they weren't crazy close but after fighting vampires as a gang it stays with you.  "It's for a good cause." She told both of them.

"Twenty? Like now?" Ethan asked.

    Sarah looked at both of them urgently. Lorelei just shook her head. "I haven't gotten my allowance yet." She shrugged.

      There was the soft sound of crying suddenly making the group look over at a shrugging Benny as he gave the girl some flowers. "Wow, what stupid thing do you think he said?" She asked them as Benny looked over to them in a confused manner before walking over to them.

            "Awesome news." He said as he approached. "Della's dog died."

         The three all shared a look. "And that's good news?" Sarah asked raising her eyebrows.

Benny only nodded excitedly before she rolled her eyes. "I gotta go. Later." She said waving bye to Lorelei and Ethan.

        Lorelei looked to Benny. "So how is a dead dog good news?" She asked curiously.

"Well." Benny started. "She said she loved my flowers and that she'd do anything to bring her dog back. Anything."

"And?" The redhead questioned.

Benny sighed. "What if somebody magically brought her dog back? Can you imagine how grateful she'd be?" He said.

"No!" Lorelei and Ethan said at the same time.

     "You can not bring her dead dog back to life!" Ethan continued staring at his friend wide-eyed.

       Benny shrugged. "Won't know until we try." He winked at the two before running off.

"Benny I'm gonna kill you!" Lorelei shouted at him.

           "Benny stop!" Ethan tried to reach out to him. "If Harry Potter were here he'd smack you around!" He said frustratedly before turning to the girl next to him.

           "Aren't you gonna do anything to stop him?" He asked.

       Lorelei quickly shook her head. "No no no. I was given specific rules that I'm watching over you. So if you're not hurt, or you don't need my help. This is not my job." She said sternly. "Also part of me wants to see how he could possibly mess this up."

      Ethan glared. "If I need help you'll come help though right?"

       She rolled her eyes. "Yes, it's my job." She told him before the two were interrupted by one of the members of the cheerleading squad calling over Lorelei. "I gotta go. Try not let him do anything too stupid." She said before smiling as Ethan ran off and she went towards her friend.

"How's the pet nerd?" Her friend Taylor asked as her blonde ponytail swung as the two girls walked to class.

Lorelei laughed at the nickname they gave him. "Still as dorky as ever." She said.

Taylor sighed. "I still don't get why you have to talk to him. I mean he's not bad but Stephanie is starting to really get on your ass you know how she is about popularity."

"Stephanie can kiss my ass. Plus I don't know, he's not bad. I babysit his sister." That was all she said before they sat down in their usual seats.

     That's how it was when their lives went back to as normal as possible. Basic fast-paced meetings in the hall or glances at lunch and Lorelei's friends questioning why she talked to them.

      Of course, she truly cared for both of them, and not just because of her special connection to Ethan. They really got to know each other when she came over to babysit Jane. That's what Ethan looked forward to the most, cause that's when she was really herself.

      And not that Lorelei would ever admit it. She loved those times as much as he did.
