[ six ] homecoming
The weekend soon came along and the homecoming party was about to begin. Lexie felt a fear in the pit of her stomach that she couldn't shake away.
She was expected to lose her virginity to some guy at the party.
She had almost decided to pretend she was sick when her doorbell rang. Her mother went to get it, and sure enough, there were three rich girls standing on her doorway. Lexie's family was from money, on her father's side.
Although she and her mother had been forced to move into a smaller house when her dad left them for a much younger woman. That had been when she was nine years old.
More recently, he had been trying to contact her and trying to win her back. But she felt as though he didn't deserve another chance. He had left his own daughter to be with another, younger woman, after all.
"Lexie," Her mum called from the livingroom, "Your friends are here!"
"Coming!" Lexie replied before taking a deep breath and going downstairs.

In the car, Clary was driving with Rose in the front seat and Taty and Lexie took the back seats of her pink mini-Cooper convertible car.
"We didn't know you lived in a middle class house." Taty said, trying to sound casual.
"Are you a scholarship student?" Rose asked.
Lexie shook her head. "I am well able to pay my tuition fees without using a scholarship. My parents are divorced, but my dad's family is rich so he pays for my schooling. And besides, being a scholarship student isn't something to be ashamed of."
"No one likes them though." Taty said. "They're social outcasts. No student with money at Hawethorne hangs out with a scholarship kid."
"Except Clover." Rose commented, "Ugly Betty is here on scholarship."
Clary sighed, "Scholarship students are actually quite nice. I've met a few of them before."
"Well that's because you love everyone." Rose pointed out.
"Not true." Clary reminded them. "I hate Ashton Irwin and his mates. I hate Paul Knightley. And I strongly dislike Kennedy Pierce. But that's not the point, Lexie," She began, looking at her through the rear view mirror. "If you need anything at all...let me know. I can help you."
"As long as you don't cross us." Taty added, "Then you're practically dead."
Lexie gulped. "Thank you."

When they arrived at the party, Clary parked her car in a dirt lot on the Pierce family compound. Kennedy Pierce himself went out to greet them.
"Clar Morgan." He said with a smug smile on his face.
Clary faked a smile onto her face. "Kenny!"
They both hugged briefly. When they pulled away, he looked at the other girls, asking, "Where's Clover? Is she coming tonight?"
She shook her head. "You know Clover hates parties."
Eyeing Lexie, he grinned, "And who is this one?"
"That's Lexie Campbell." Rose replied.
The four girls walked past him, headed for the house. As Taty passed him, Kennedy smirked. "Hey there, Taty. Do you still have a huge crush on me? Like last year. Remember? We had such a great time."
