She was standing by the pool, talking with a few of the other senior students who adored the ground she walked on. He rolled his eyes. Most of them, if not all, probably pretended to like her because she was pretty and popular.

Setting his red cup filled with beer on a nearby table, he decided at another attempt to talk to her.

He approached her, a confident smirk on his face. "Hey Clar."

She rolled her eyes, not even turning to acknowledge his pressence, but her words directed at him came out in a hiss. "Fuck off."

He gripped her arm tightly, pulling her close enough for him to whisper into her ear. "Or can I fuck you?"

Pulling her arm away from his hold, she smiled at the people standing around her in a small circle. "Could you guys give me a minute. I have to put this reject in his place."

They all nodded and walked off like the obedient puppets they were and walked off.

"Get away from me." She told him through gritted teeth, her eyes glaring at him.

The two were standing by the edge of the pool when a group of drunk boys ran in between them, one of them knocking Clary to the side by accident. Her eyes widened as she began to fall backwards and her arms reached out to hold onto the nearest person, which was Ashton.

He quickly grabbed her arms and pulled her towards him, holding her close to his chest.

There were gasps heard, even over the music of the party. The senior boys who had almost knocked her into the pool returned to apologize to her.

"We're so sorry Clar." One of them said.

But she couldn't see them because her eyes were closed and her arms were held onto Ashton for dear life. When she remembered people were staring, she jumped back, almost falling into the pool again, but with a smirk, Ashton grabbed onto her arms to stabilize her.

"Its fine." She coughed, dusting herself off. "It was nothing."

She turned to walk back towards the house when Ashton's voice stopped her. "You're welcome." He said in an amused tone.

She turned to see him standing there, under the light of the stars and the colorful party strobes. The way he watched her, smirk and all, with his hands in his pockets. She almost wanted to walk right on up to him and wipe the dumb smirk off his face.

Her eyes narrowed into thin slits. "Stop looking at me like that!"

"Like what?" He asked innocently.

"Like I'm supposed to be grateful to you or something." She said.

He scoffed. "Sorry for expecting a thank you."

She opened her mouth, ready to retort and continue the argument with him when someone tapped her on the shoulder.

Turning her head, she saw her younger sister Clover who was wearing a nice dress her mother bought her, something she swore she'd never wear and her blue and blonde hair was combed into a neat side braid. Her make-up wasn't her usual dark eyeliner and mascara, but rather something natural that made her look stunning.

"Aww." Clary squealed. "You look so cute."

Clover rolled her eyes, letting a smile make way on her face. "Have you seen Kennedy?"

From behind the two girls, Ashton smiled, "Hey Clove."

"Hey Ashton." Clover waved at him with a friendly smile.

"I saw him inside the house earlier." Clary said, linking arms with her sister. "Come on, I'll go with you."

"I'll see you later." Ashton smirked.

"Not likely." Clary replied.

Clove smiled at her, commenting. "Why aren't you and Ashton dating anymore? You guys were so lovely together and he was the best boyfriend you ever had. I remember he always tried to include me when you guys went out cause I didn't have a lot of friends and he never made me feel like I was third-wheeling. You guys should go out again."

Her sister nudged her, saying through gritted teeth. "We never dated. Ever."

"Sure you did. Remember-" Clover reminded her.

"We never dated." She repeated.

"Fine." Clover said defensively.

Luke and Lexie spent most of the party sitting by the side of the house.

They talked about a lot of things, and they both found themselves telling the other things they never said to anyone else.

Eventually, Lexie pulled her phone out of her small hand purse and clicked the home button. The screen was lit up and she checked the time. It was only half past midnight and she was already sleepy.

She didn't tend to go to parties often, or even at all.

When she let out a yawn, Luke smiled, "Its so obvious you're a freshie. Its not that late yet and you're already tired."

She leaned her head on his shoulder. "Right now I should be sleeping with some guy."

Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, he pulled her close, his chin rested on top of her head. "Don't worry about the bitches. Just don't do it and say you did. Its not like they're going to strip you down and check to make sure." He joked.

"That would be the end of me on this planet." She murmured. "But...I'm scared of lying to them."

She held her phone in her hand, waiting to see if they woud text her when it was time to go home. He took it from her and slid his thumb across the screen.

He searched her contacts for Clary's phone number and texted her: I'm gonna go home with one of the senior boys. See you all on Monday. xx -Lex

He smiled to himself. "That's settled, so you don't have to face them until Monday. I'll take you home."

"Thank you, Luke." She told him, sighing comfortably against his warmth.

"That's weird," Clary wondered as the two sisters headed up the stairs. "I swear I saw him in the livingroom earlier."

"Maybe he went to his room to change or something." Clover suggested.

They headed down the hallway, with Clover leading the way since she had been to his house more times than Clary had. His bedroom was the last door at the end of the hallway and she grabbed the doorknob, twisting it and pushing the door open.

Both girls gasped at what they saw.

"Kennedy?" Clover said, her voice full of hearbreak when she saw her boyfriend on his bed, half undressed, with another girl lying beneath him.
