13. Home Away From Home

Kayden parked the car and I chuckled as we got out, we left the bags in the car for the time being, "I think Lucian's a bit paranoid about you being near me." I nodded my head in the direction of the front window and he sighed when we both saw Lucian's head pop back inside the house, "We better explain to him that it's Cravings before he puts us in separate rooms." I chuckled as he pulled me into his side and looped his arm across my waist. As soon as we walked through the door I knew everybody was waiting for us in the living room.

I took a moment to skip into the kitchen and notice Clarissa at the side probably cooking something up for me or Lucian. I slid around the island counter and to my aunts side, "Hey, Auntie Clarissa. Can I borrow your lovely dining room table for a moment?" I asked with a grin on my face, I could sense Kayden behind me still.

She smiled sweetly and nodded, not even bothering to ask me why. I kissed her cheek delicately and turned on my heel to face Kayden, "Kay, could you do me a favour and call everybody in here. I think we need to explain what's going on." He kissed my cheek longingly before he turned and started his crusade around the house.

The dining room was adjacent to the kitchen and an arched doorway lead into the small room. The table still sat boldly in the centre of the room and the twelve dining chairs still edged the huge table, elegantly. I took a seat at the head of the table and listened as everybody filed into the room. Lucien and Louise sat by each other and I could see Clarissa's glowing smile as she skipped into the room with Philipé trailing behind her. He smiled to me as Clarissa winked and I knew she's explained everything to him, I suppose it's hard to keep things from your true Mate.

Shawn sauntered into the room next with Kayden close behind him, they all sat down relatively quiet and Kayden sat in the chair beside mine. He held my hand gently under the table and I smiled.

"You all know we had to leave school early," I nodded towards Kayden and myself, "Just for warning and because I know for a fact that Lucian is having a fit that I'm sitting next to Kay, but he's not trying to kill me he's Craving." Everybody's eyes rose in unison as they all looked from me to Kayden then back to me and to my neck. I chuckled, "He hasn't claimed me yet, so stop checking my neck out. But beware, he might be a bit grumpy until he does and we might have to be ditching school a little more often." I looked to Kayden and chuckled when blood flooded his cheeks.

"You just want another reason not to be in school." Lucian grunted and Shawn huffed with him, I laughed and turned to Lucian.

"You saw what he was like, do you want him chewing on my neck in the middle of school?" I asked with a grin on my face and I flicked a glance to Kayden and noticed his cheeks were still pink.

"No." He grunted again and turned away in defeat.

"Well then, as that is all said and done." Everyone got to their feet and I smirked when Louise tried to hide behind Lucian out of the door, "Louise can I have a word with you please?" I raised my eyebrows waiting for her to make a run for it, but she sighed and slumped back to my side. I laughed as she plopped herself back into her chair and I shook my head, "Come on lets go for a walk."

She smiled appreciatively as she got to her feet and followed me out of the house quietly, Clarissa shot me a curious glance but shook it off when I smiled at her.

"I know you know, so stop dragging it out." She groaned as we hit the border of the trees, I turned and smirked as she skipped to my side and we headed further into the forest. I knew the rest of the family couldn't hear us here.

"Does he know yet?" I turned to her and she ducked her head to look at the ground.

"No. I don't even think he cares. This isn't right, I shouldn't be mated to a Lycan! Vampires and Lycans are sworn enemies!" She argued and I raised my eyebrows with a smirk, she stopped and looked up to me with wide eyes, "Sorry. I didn't mean it like that."
