December 24, 15 years old
Jake Frost had continued to visit her. Three years ago, she had began to do research about Jake Frost and who he was. She learned that he was in several children's fairytales. Every time she tried to tell her friends that he wasn't a fairytale and he was real, they'd laugh at her, so she stopped talking about him. She still believed in him and cherished the minutes she'd get to see him every Christmas Eve.
She sat in the bay window, Christmas pajamas on, holding a cup of warm coffee. She had learned to drink coffee early so she could stay up to see him. She looked outside again and there he was, coming towards her yard and she couldn't help but smile. She had learned that no one else could see him but her. She decided to open the window this time and stick her head out. He had a wave of snow behind him, like he was riding a wave. He landed softly on the ground and slowly snowflakes began to fall. She looked up in pure awe as a single one fell onto her nose. She laughed and he smiled, creating more dancing snowflakes. Like a wirldwind, they danced across the sky, falling and rising, up and down, side to side.
She had began to grow close to Jake, loving his visits as much as any child loved Christmas. She looked forward to Jake more than she looked forward to anything else. Each year was more magical than the next, though she'd always remember the very first one.
She looked out at the cold Toronto weather and up at the boy that worked harder and harder each year to make Christmas Eve as amazing as possible for Aspen. This time she decided to do something crazy. She invited him in.
He was shocked at first because she had always watched him from the comfort of her window. Now that he was actually being invited inside, he became a bit nervous. He climbed in and flopped onto one of the cushions of the bay window.
"Thank you for making every Christmas Eve more magical than the next," she smiled, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I knew you wanted it to snow, so every year I bring you snow as a present from me to you."
She suddenly heard a door open and jumped, one of her parents was up. She turned around to warn Jake but he was already gone, only a bit of snow on the windowsill and the same initials on the window like a signature.
