December 24, 35 Years old
Aspen was taking Yara to school and while she was walking, she felt a tap on her. Knowing who it was immediately, she continued walking as if she hadn't noticed to simply see how Jake would try to get her attention. She felt a bit of snow fall onto her nose, then saw more fall around them. She couldn't hold in her smile and turned her head to see Jake with a big smile on his face. They silently walked Yara to school and dropped her off, only then did they speak to each other.
"She's really grown up," he said, reminiscing about when she was first born. There was a sort of comfort every time they saw one another each year, the familiarity of someone they grew up with. Even though they only had one day out of a year, it felt like they knew everything about each other. "Even though she's never met you, she's missed what you did for her," Aspen softly spoke, referring to the show he put on for Yara with the snow. "I have to run a few errands if you don't mind," Aspen looked over at Jake for his opinion. "This should be fun," Jake smirked, already planning the things he'd do in order to embarrass her.
They were nearly at the supermarket by the time they realized because of all the catching up they did. Aspen grabbed a basket and they proceeded into the store. She looked through isles of fruits and vegetables, grabbed items for dinner, and snacks for Yara. The entire time Jake would juggle tomatoes and random items, sometimes dropping them, causing Aspen to retort, "You clumsy idiot," with a small shake of her head and a chuckle. He would smile even bigger each time she said anything sarcastic because he knew she was embarrassed and he had succeeded.

The time had come to pick up Yara and they entered the school. As they walked through the halls, multiple kids were running to their parents. She found her daughter easily, her two curly pigtails coming into view immediately. Yara's eyes widened and she ran over to her, "Mama! I made a necklace for you, here," she rushed from excitement as she held out a necklace with various beads. "Wow, darling! This is beautiful, thank you so much," she kissed her daughter on her cheek and held her hand as they left school. Suddenly it began to snow and she heard all the children exclaim in excitement and amazement. Aspen immediately turned her head towards Jake and he simply shrugged, "What can I say? I like seeing kids happy."
She shook her head, "See you next time, Jake Frost."
"Same to you, Aspen Emerson," He winked and disappeared in a blend of snow.
