SAM LAWTON POV

The bus was on its way.

I looked from Molly, who was talking to Olivia, to Nathan, who was chilling across from Olivia and Molly, to Isaac, who was flirting with some girl on the phone.

He was sitting next to me, so I thought I'd have some fun.

I rubbed his thigh. His breathing became shaky.

I moved my hand upwards, sliding it into his jeans. He started stuttering.

I continued until I felt Isaac's hand on my wrist. "Sam, stop."

I grinned. "Maybe you should take the call in private." Isaac nodded rapidly, rushing to the bathroom in back. Isaac wasn't homophobic, thank God, but he didn't do well with being hit on by guys. At least he hadn't punched me.

Nathan and Dennis didn't see a thing. But Olivia had, rolling her eyes when she noticed me glancing at her. "Slut," she mouthed.

"Whore," I mouthed back. She flashed a smirk, giving me the middle finger.

Candice was twirling the rubber bands on her wrist. "Why do you do that?" Nathan asked her.

Candice gave him a wry smile. "It's something I do when I'm nervous... And for luck."

"She's superstitious," Peter whispered loudly.

"And you're all annoying," Dennis cut in.

Candice leaned forward. "Dennis, Dennis, Dennis... You want to be the pot or the kettle?"

Molly snorted. Olivia let out a laugh, and I added, "I think he's the kettle - he's loud when he's boiling." The comment earned another snort from Molly.

"Can it, Stan," Dennis cut in.

"He's better than Roy," Nathan snarked.

"Then why don't you fire him?" Peter asked in a dry tone.

Nathan scoffed. "I fire him and I'll have a factory full of Roy's... but I'll win him over, even if it kills me."

"Or him," I teased.

"No speaking ill of the not quite dead," Olivia piped up.

As the bus pulled onto the North Bay Bridge, I felt something cold surround me. I shivered.

Looking out the window, I saw construction workers motioning for people to stop. The bus did, and I pressed my hand into the back of the seat in front of me, so I stayed in my seat.

I have a huge issue with momentum. Anything that moved too fast makes me lose my grip and/or balance.

A sharp pain enters my thumb, and I pull back my hand. I take a look at my thumb, then stick the bleeding finger in my mouth.

Apparently there was a sharp piece of metal sticking out of the seat in front of me, and it stabbed my thumb.

Looking upwards at the TV (we were on one of the busses that looked like one you'd sit in to go to Vegas), I saw the TV go static.

As if on cue, the bus' radio began broadcasting a random song. I heard, "Dust in the wind," before the bus driver turned off the radio.

The bus shook.

Now I was getting freaked out. We're on a bus that isn't moving on a bridge that was undergoing construction.

I turned to Peter, who was sitting next to Candice in the window seat, and asked, "Did you feel that?"

He replied, "Feel what?"

So, no. He didn't feel a thing. "Something's wrong."

I looked out the window, seeing small cracks appear in the ground. At the same time, I heard cracking up front. I stood up, as did all twenty-four people in their seats, and I saw the bridge coming apart in front of us.

I grabbed Molly's hand, practically shouting, "Molly, come on!" as I pulled her off the bus.

As we exited the bus, Candice ran to the rail at the end of the bridge. "Fuck, where's Carla when you need her?" She looked around. "Peter!"

"Candice?" he yelled. The area around her began to fall, taking her with it. "No!"

Candice screamed as she fell, until the center of her spine was impaled by the top of a ship's sail. Her body slid down to where the fabric was, which was a good foot down.

I wanted to puke.

Molly and I ran, until we saw the bus tipping. I realized that we probably forgot about Isaac, but too late now.

The bus fell into the water below, and I knew Isaac was dead.

We kept running until I saw the bridge breaking again, cutting us off from safety. That is, until I saw a support beam near the rail on our left.

Guiding Molly over to it, I watched her walk across, and make it to safety.

I turned around and saw Olivia without her glasses. I rushed to her, yelling, "Olivia!"
She recognized my voice, and I guided her to the beam. "Okay, you have to be careful. Follow Molly's voice."

As soon as her hands found it, Molly called for her, and continued to. Olivia started crawling, until the bridge shook, and she almost lost her grip. But she righted herself, and continued. Molly began shouting words of encouragement.

Olivia and Molly's hands almost connected, when the beam bent, and with no actual traction on it, Olivia slid off and into the water.

She came up for air, but a car rolled off the bridge, and onto her.

I turned around, and saw Nathan and Dennis running towards me. Nathan yelled, "Hey, wait for us!" before a support cable struck him, killing him instantly.

"That's... Gonna leave a mark." I said wryly.

The bridge around me started cracking, and Molly yelled, "Sam, be careful!"

Really, Molly? People are DYING. How the hell am I supposed to be careful?!

I grabbed onto a crack, and Dennis tumbled over the edge. But I guess he grabbed the support beams below the cracked cement, because he started climbing up.

And a tar rig dumped all over him.

He's definitely not surviving that.

I got to my feet, and Peter ran past me, jumping onto the rail dangling from the intact part of the bridge. I followed suit, and as I grabbed the rail, the broken part of the bridge fell.

Peter and I tried to climb up, but a construction truck fell partially, and metal rods impaled Peter. I watched his body plummet to the water below.

Then I heard Molly scream. I looked up, saw a sheet of metal fly at me....
