Terry Chaney hated her English teacher.

One of two reasons being that she always arrived in class late, therefore had a lot of tardies to makeup before graduation. And the only reason she was ever late was because her deadbeat drunk dad never wanted to drive her to school, so she had to take the public bus instead.

Never mind the fact that she lives halfway across the city from the school. And McKinley, Pennsylvania, is nowhere near a small town.

The second reason?

"The useless hag paired me with Kevin!" She whined to Wendy and Carrie.

The end of Junior Year assignment was an essay. Each student got a partner, and if they failed, they have to repeat the grade.

Wendy rolled her eyes. Terry and Kevin dated in freshman year (they were currently juniors), but he dumped her for Carrie. It was the biggest scandal in school, until Nick O'Bannon's panic attack in art class.

"Sucks, bitch," Carrie teased. "I got Jason. Wendy?"

Wendy shrugged. "I got Ashley."

"Ashley Freund? Skankley?" Carrie gasps in horror.

Billy sat next to Terry. "Last I checked, Wendy and Ashley were actually on good terms," he said as he put his crutches on the floor.

"We are. I'm surprised you're in school today, considering the gymnastics disaster," Wendy replied.

Terry was confused. "What disaster?"

"I went to Candice's practice yesterday, and there was an accident that ended with me and another girl needing a cast." He paused to take a breath.

"That's it?" Terry interrupted.

"I wasn't finished," he added, glaring at her. "We discovered an affair, there was a breakup, and the girl he was cheating on her with died on the bars. It was not pretty."

Terry didn't hear any names. She knew it was probably Hooper, but she didn't press the issue.

"Don't you get a day off for trauma?"

"The principal gave me two options. It was either miss today, or I could go to school today, since it's Friday, and take next week off."

"Smart move," Carrie smirked. "On a totally unrelated note, it's good to see you two actually getting along."

"Well, Perry outed me, so Wendy is trying to give me a second chance," Billy explained. "Stop glaring, Chaney."

Terry flipped him off. "Where's Candice?"

"Dentist."

---------------------

The office was practically dead.

The deceased coworkers nonwithstanding, of course.

Candice was sitting in Sam's chair, while Molly was having a chat with Sam about Paris. He had been offered a managing position at Le Cafe Miro 81. But he was reluctant to go, because... Billy. Molly. Peter. Candice.

He glanced at Peter. "He's not taking Candice and Portia well, is he?"

Molly rolled her eyes. "Would you?"
Sam shrugged. "You know I'm too clingy to cheat."

"Well, yeah, but-"

Olivia ran towards them. "Have you guys gotten your commisionary checks yet?

Sam shook his head, as did Molly. "Why?"

"They are huge!" She screamed.

Candice clapped her hands over her ears. "Ow! Olivia, a little quieter, please?"
