(Ricardo Hoyos Sam Lawton)
Sam Lawton was not the happiest camper - it was seven thirty, and he had to be at the office before eight because Peter had decided that Sam was in charge of breakfast before the team-building retreat.
"You know, I was expecting stale doughnuts, but this is amazing," Peter exclaimed, visibly impressed at the wide arrangement of food that Sam had set up.
"Just remember that when you see my sales report for last month," Sam replied, looking down at his shoes.
Peter picked up a piece of bacon. "Oh, I saw it last night," he said before taking a bite.
Sam winced. "Shit. Has Dennis seen it?"
Peter shook his head. "Not until the retreat's over. But you need to decide - chef, or sales guy? I'm saying that as your friend, because as your boss, I'm ready to fire your ass."
"How about as my ex?" Sam asked dryly.
Sam is openly bisexual with his coworkers. Most don't approve, but Peter has no right to judge, he took Sam's virginity on Sam's eighteenth birthday.
Peter placed his hands on Sam's shoulders, shook him, and yelled, "Get a grip!"
"Hey, Sam! Hands off my boyfriend!" Candice Hooper joked. She walked over, grinning, and kissed Peter.
Turning to Sam, she said, "Heard about the bad breakup. You okay?"
Sam scowled. "What bad breakup? It's just a cancelled ticket, Hooper." He rushed to Molly Harper's car as he saw her park.
Peter rolled his eyes. "How's Billy?"
Candice shook her head. "He's not doing too good. I've never left him alone, and he's scared. He's pretending that he's fine so I'll feel better, but it's not working. I can see it, he doesn't want me to go."
Peter made her face him. "This is where you were meant to be, okay?" Candace frowned, then nodded. "One more thing. That 12:30 curfew? Break it. Naked team building at 1."
Candice smirked. "Are we bringing Sam?" Peter glared at her. "Kidding, jeez! But seriously, hands off. This isn't a vacation, and I don't want Dennis firing me."
Peter nodded, and chased after Sam. Candice treated herself to breakfast.
"Molly, your plane ticket's cancelled," Sam said, but it was more of a question, as Molly got out of her car. "Tell me this is some sort of mistake - or does your family have plans."
Molly sighed. "I was going to talk to you after the weekend-"
"And I'm supposed to act like I didn't see this for the next two days? Let's talk now." Sam blinked back tears. "Molly... What's going on?"
Molly shook her head. "It's not working out, Sam." She looked sorrowful, unable to meet his eyes. "We're not working out."
Sam froze as she walked away. He had major attachment issues, and he'd been dating Molly for a year.
Olivia snuck over from the bus stop. She had taken the bus so she could save gas money. Olivia and Sam were friends from high school, but as they grew up, Olivia became a bit of a party girl, while Sam chose to settle down with Molly.
Olivia had almost made it to Sam, but seeing his stiff posture, she halted. "Sam?"
Sam turned to Olivia. "Molly broke up with me." Olivia frowned. "Olivia, I think you forgot your glasses."
Olivia pulled out her glasses from her purse. "I keep trying to."
Sam gave her a friendly smile as he put on her glasses for her. "I like it, it's very... Lisa Loeb."
