The water cooler bubbled, and the cup on the water cooler tipped over, onto a power outlet. The lasik machine malfunctioned, causing the machine to reach the danger levels. Because of this, the machine was beeping.
"Is this machine supposed to be doing that?" Olivia asked. She ran her hand along the machine, trying to reach the remote to press the emergency stop button, but she knocked it over.
The activation button was pressed instead.
---------------------
Perry Malinowski parked the car, and Sam, Molly, and Carla hopped out, and ran into the lasik building.
Sam read the catalog. "Fourth floor is lasik surgery."
They ran for the elevator, and Carla dropped her phone. She picked it up, but the elevator closed on her, forcing her to take the stairs.
---------------------
The activation button was pressed instead.
The machine shot a laser, cutting into Olivia's eye. She screamed, trying to unclasp the head clamp.
It stopped, then started again, but this time, Olivia put her hand in the way.
---------------------
Sam and molly ran to the front desk. "Is Olivia Castle here?" Sam asked, and Molly added, "She may be in danger."
The doctor looked at the two, and Carla finally reached the floor, panting. "No, she's fine, we do these procedures all the-" he was interrupted by a loud yell coming from the room.
---------------------
Olivia finally managed to get the head clamp off, as the laser cut her eye a fourth time. She jumped up as the door opened, revealing the doctor, Sam, and Molly.
"Help me!" She wailed, then stepped on the teddy bear's fallen eye, causing her to tumble through the window, screaming the whole way down.
She landed on Perry's car, flipping off from the force, and Perry, in shock, watched her intact eye pop out and roll into the street.
She passed out when the eye was run over.
---------------------
Candice barged into Billy's class, followed by Alex.
Eugene Dix stood up. "Hooper, get out."
She ignored him, looking at Billy, and said, "Olivia Castle is dead."
Billy stood up, and grabbed his backpack. "What happened?"
"I figured Sam would've texted you," Candice said dryly.
"Didn't get the memo, Candy? Perry has my phone. Amber, let's go," he said.
"Already packing up," Amber replied.
Julie was too. "Wait. I'm coming with you guys."
Eugene moved to block the doorway, but Candice punched his nose with a sickening crack. She then turned around and announced, "Someone get the nurse. Class dismissed."
As she walked out, Alex followed. "Do you dismiss class a lot?" He asked.
"Define a lot," Candice countered.
---------------------
"Why is Perry going to the E.R.?" Carla asked.
Perry was in shock. She hadn't woke up since Olivia's body dropped on her car.
"We're just checking for any signs of post traumatic stress. As you said, this is the second time she's seen someone die in a two month span," The EMT said.
And that was when Candice's car pulled in.
Candice, Billy, Julie, and Amber hopped out of the car, and walked straight into the crime scene. "Bet you wished you went to school today now, huh, Carla?" Candice teased.
Amber and Julie struck up a conversation with Molly.
Billy ran straight to Sam, hugging him.
"Hey, handsome," Sam murmured. "How was school?"
Billy scoffed. "The sophomores had standard testing today, but I have a feeling we're going to be doing it tomorrow as well, considering Perry walked out of class, and Candice broke the substitute teacher's nose."
Molly turned around. "That's badass."
Candice bowed.
"Excuse me. Whic one of you knew her best?" The EMT asked.
Sam replied, "Billy's her best friend."
"But Amber's her girlfriend," Julie corrected.
"If I could talk to you for a minute," the EMT said, and Amber nodded, walking over with him to Perry's car.
"Now can we get McDonald's?" Sam whined playfully.
"You're buying?" Billy asked.
"Only for you," Sam said, kissing his neck.
"Eew! PDA alert!" Julie mocked, covering her eyes.
"Hey Sam. If we're going to McDonald's, Who's driving?" Molly inquired.
"Candice," Sam, Julie, and Billy said at the same time, and Amber returned, adding, "Carla my have a license, but the reason she doesn't have a car is because she crashed it into a tree."
"I didn't like that tree," Carla pouted.
"Dont worry, honey, the tree doesn't like you either." Candice retorted.
"That's why it totalled your car," Julie quipped.
"We're terrible people," Sam added.
"Hell better warch out for us," Molly joked.
"And you missed baseball tryouts," Billy smirked at Carla, then closed his eyes, and let out a soft moan when Sam bit his neck. "Babe. I love you too, but I'm hungry, not horny."
"Had to try," Sam joked.
"Question. Why did Perry have to give you guys a ride. I know Carla doesn't have a car, but you two do," Candice said, pointing at Sam and Molly.
"Nathan took my car," Molly said.
"And I got a ride from Molly, as my car decided to be a piece of shit this morning," Sam added.
Billy looked at Sam. "I can take a look at it, if you want. I do some work at a mechanic shop on Sundays," he offered.
"What can't you do?" Sam asked, beaming.
"I'm ship with computers, I can't dance, I flunked medical anatomy class, and before you ask, if it involves sitting at a desk for more than two hours a day, I'm bad at that too."
"You can't dance?" Molly asked.
"Correction. I can't dance, unless its the salsa," Billy reiterated. "I learned the salsa for my cousin's quinceñera when I was six, but I'm not too good. I managed to twist my ankle in under five minutes."
Sam looked at Candice. "What can you do?"
"Write, cause pandemonium, dismiss a class, and break the substitute teacher's nose," She replied sheepishly. "And he's lying. He twisted his ankle trying to tap dance next to a flight of stairs."
"My baby's reckless," Sam cooed, and Billy replied, "Damn right I am."
