"How crazy is that? I mean. It's insane. Totally insane!" Candice squealed. Her hands balled up in little fists as she wiggles them in front of her excitedly. Justin watched her from across the table, his eyelids heavy and his eyebrows raised.
"Utterly shocking." He spoke back. His expression beyond unimpressed and Candice's hands dropped immediately as he pouted. They were alone at the table. It was lunchtime on a Wednesday afternoon and everyone else had school activities that they were forced to take part in which took them away sitting in the lunch hall with Justin and Candice.
"What, or who, crawled up your ass?" She smirked as she leaned forward in her seat and Justin shook his head.
"Nothing. I'm completely engrossed in your story about how you ran into the same hot Starbucks guy six times in the one day." He replies and Candice smiled as she rolled her eyes playfully.
"You're just jealous." She giggled as she began to open her fluorescent pink water bottle just as Justin's left butt cheek vibrated. He reached back and pulled his phone from his pocket.
"And what am I supposed to be jealous of?" He questioned as he unlocked his phone without checking his lock screen to see what the notification was. Candice took a sip of her water.
"That I've got a date with a totally hot guy an... are you even listening?" She dumbfounded as she watched Justin who was too busy reading the message on his phone than to listen to what she was saying.Candice watched as a small grew on Justin's lips and it wasn't long before her small smile creeped out onto her face. A cheeky smile can only mean one thing.
"Someone really did crawl up your ass!" She exclaimed loudly and Justin jumped slightly, his hazel eyes darting towards her slightly aggravated and confused and then his cheeks glowed a warm red as they became flushed with embarrassed as he looked around and saw his fellow students staring at him and Candice with weird glances. He smiled nervously as he leaned towards Candice.
"One. Stop saying that, it sounds gross and totally not a phrase used for what you're implying. Secondly. Nobody has been anywhere near my ass." He whisper yelled and Candice only smirked as Justin pulled himself back and glanced at his cell phone again.
"It's a sexy ass." She replied giving a quick playful wink and Justin glared at her as he shook his head as Candice giggled.Candice smiled, pleased with herself, as she tapped her long, manicured nails against the table. She took a deep breath as she stared over at Justin.
"So are you going to tell me his name?" She asked suddenly. Justin looked over at her with an unreadable stare as he pouted slightly.
"It's nothing, I just didn't know he had my number." He spoke back and Candice nodded her head.
"Well 'Nothing' does have your number. so what are you going to do about it?" She questioned. Her eyes completely focused on Justin and she was leaning forward, bringing her chair with her as though she was trying to climb over he table in an anxious play to look over at Justin's cellphone. Justin chuckled slightly at her before he looked back down at his phone and stared at the message.
"I guess I should probably reply to him." He told her and if he said her eyes widened to balls bigger than the moon then he wouldn't be exaggerating.
"Oh my shirtless Zac Efron! Yes, do it!" She was once again waving her fists in front of her face in excitement and Justin could only smile at her and her lovable craziness. He looked back down at his phone and let his fingers hover over the screen where the message was illuminated in a bright blue text bubble. It was truly nothing, a simple question yet it had such an effect on Justin and his teenage emotions. He wasn't sure if that made him stupid but at this point he didn't really care.
"Guess who?"
He could feel himself smile again and he knew Candice and her inner Cupid was freaking out across from him but he couldn't tear himself away from the phone and his thoughts of Jason. He had barely done anything yet it's done everything to Justin. He sighed a little as he brought his fingers down to reply as his mind went over all the different possibilities of approach that he could take to the question.
"Let me think... the creep who suddenly has my number?"
It was sent before he could proof read and his stomach fell through his ass when he realised that he has just sent that to Jason.
"What did you say?" Candice broke into his thoughts and Justin closed his eyes before squinting one open and taking a long breathe.
"Something really stupid." He groaned out as he locked his cell and then dropped his head on the table and groaning even louder.
"He's going to think I'm a freak." He moaned and Candice giggled at him.
"I'm sure he'll read it and think about you being your usual cute self." She reassured and Justin lifted his head to stare at her with a look of disbelief.
"Or he'll delete my number." He muttered in an annoyed tone. He felt sick and it wasn't the good kinda sick when you're waiting anxiously for a reply but more the kinda sick you get when you are utterly embarrassed and cringing so hard at yourself. A feeling that's he's all too used to. Candice only raised her eyebrow and opened her mouth to speak but was quickly interrupted by the sound of Justin's phone vibrating against the table.
"Doesn't sound like he deleted your number." She smirked and Justin's hand darted our and gripped his phone as he quickly read the message. His heart pounding in his chest."Nope. Just the creep who wants to take you out tonight."
