Love Finds A Way: Malec AU

1. Infatuated

Tapping his foot impatiently, Alec waited for his turn. After about half an hour later he was called in.

Magnus waited patiently in the inyerview room. What met his eyes next, did not disapoint at all. Magnus was a sucker for the particular combination, black hair and blue eyes. The candidate looked confident and took a seat opposite Magnus.

Magnus looked at the sheet in front of him, "Alexander."

The beautiful guy just nodded and gave Magnus all his attention. It was hard for him to do so as the boss he was interviewing for was quite esthetically dressed with slight eyeliner (if he wasn't wrong) and an intense stare.

Not to mention, he was pulling it off quite well. People had said that the new boss was eccentric but it wasn't so bad. He looked like a emo kid, only older. Alec even liked some of those guys.

The thought of liking his boss, Magnus made Alec blushed and he cursed himself internally. Magnus could see the red creeping up and felt bad for staring at Alec.

Magnus hastily looked away and crossed his fingers. The series of grilling questions started and Alec looked unruffled by any of it.

"It says, you have had secretary experience and military training. Will you be able to handle yourself if we were in a dangerous situation?"

This caused Alec to frown, "Yes. But is it often that you face a dangerous situation." Alec wondered what danger apart from a couple of exes could a business tycoon face.

"No. No." Magnus dismissed with a wave of his hand but Alec didn't believe him.

That night Magnus lay in his bed wondering. He never had any qualms about mixing business with pleasure but he never did that with his secretaries. This seemed to be one of those times that he would make an exception!

Alec was cooking in his kitchen when his phone buzzed and he received the congratulatory mail that he had got the job. It put back the image of Magnus in his head, an image he had tried so hard to forget.

"Need help?" Izzy jumped in like a hyperactive teen around the kitchen and he chased her out. It was hard to forget that beautiful and intense gaze Magnus had given him. It had made his heart flutter. The way he had leaned in, clasped his hands and stared hard at Alec. Alec resisted the urge to look away but his heart thudded every time Magnus did that.

"This is going to be hard." Alec murmured under his breath at last before deciding to keep his best professional front.

The next day, Alec was lead to his new office adjacent to Magnus'. Magnus was away on a business trip and Alec was supposed to join him the next day. The day was well spent for Alec as he did his best to take in everything about the upcoming meeting and the company, especially his boss.

Next day he caught the early morning flight and found himself at the hotel reservation struggling to tell the receptionist that he had a room reserved not a suite reserved. Finally, he let it go and decided to pay for the suite from his pocket rather than the company expense.

He was berating himself as he settled into the room. He leaned back on the couch, kicked his shoes and closed his eyes.

Magnus walked out of his room dripping  wet from waist up and a nice sight met his eyes. Alexander was laying on the couch with his feet on the coffee table, sleeping. Magnus smiled, it did him good to have booked a suite instead of two rooms. Maybe they could get to know each other.

About an hour before the meeting Magnus shook Alexander to wake him up. As Alec opened his eyes, he was surprised to see Magnus looked directly at him. Magnus scooted away as Alec sat bolt upright but he was so quick that their head collided.

"Ouu." Magnus' hand flew to his head.

"Sorry." Alec too rubbed his forehead.

"It's ok. You were sleeping deeply. You must be tired. The meeting is in the hotel in an hour. I hope that is enough time for you to get ready."

Magnus said in one breath, a little breathless looking at the out-of-bed look. The blue of his eyes was quite beautiful and striking up close. Alec nodded feeling self conscious. Questions ran through his head

Why is Magnus here? Is he angry that I am in a suite? What a blunder on my first day. He looks so good. I wonder what he would look like without all that.

He mentally slapped himself to stop staring. Magnus stared back.

"I ordered breakfast for us. I hope you like eggs." Magnus skidded to a nearby couch chair and avoided looking at Alec. It was going to be more difficult than anticipated, Magnus thought to himself. After a long awkward silence.

Alec suddenly stood up surprising Magnus.
"I'll freshen up." He looked confused looking at the two doors to his side.

"That way. This one is mine." Magnus pointed at the doors and Alec nodded in response.

As he dragged his bags to his room, all her could think was, "He is staying with me. In the same suite."

He shut the door trying to calm his hyperventilation.

He was mesmerised by the new secretary. He had planned on teasing him a little but all thoughts had blown out the window at the power of those eyes. Magnus was puzzled with Alec's ubdrupt behaviour. It seemed like the new secretary didn't like him.

Magnus' heart sank at the thought but he dismissed it quickly.

Getting ready, Magnus arrived in the main room dressed up in a three piece suit. Alec wore simple plain formals in grey and black. It wasn't much of a change from his all black outfit that seemed to be falling apart this morning.

Alex tried to smile at his boss but Magnus avoided looking at Alec making the secretary's heart sink a bit.

Alec rushed forward and opened the suit door to let Magnus out and Magnus' heart thudded. He was a warlock but in his many many years, none had ever opened a door for him, not even his secretaries.

For a moment his steps faltered, he looked Alec with amazement, happiness and something else that Alec couldn't quite place. It made him uneasy. Alec blushed and looked away. Stupid me, Alec chidded himself.

The red creeping up in Alec's cheeks gave Magnus some courage and he put a finger under Alec's chin making him look up in surprise. Before any of them knew it, Magnus had kissed Alec making the other one freeze in shock.

Never in his long hunting career had Alec frozen in shock, ever but this was different. No one had ever kissed him. 

Magnus retreated and looked searchingly at Alec who simply took Magnus' face in his hand and kissed him in return. This time Magnus froze, not anticipating this at all.
