Three loud dongs echoed across the open arena, barely overcoming the roaring cheers of the fans.
The loud screech of a microphone cut through the waves of noise.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN," a small white haired man bellowed into a microphone. "IT IS MY PLEASURE TO INTRODUCE TO YOU, THE REIGNING CHAMPION OF THE FAIRY TAIL FIGHTING CORPS CLASS B, THE "IRON DRAGON" GAJEEEEELLLLLLL REDFOX!"
A dark haired man with multiple piercings and blood red eyes heaved himself into the ring.
He sat down on a stool in the corner of the ring, waving lazily to the crowd.
He turned as he felt a small pressure on his back. There stood his manager, in all her Shrimp-like glory.
"Do you remember what we talked about Gajeel?" She asked, her doe-brown eyes sparking with excitement and a hint of worry.
He nodded. "He's fast, block faster. Look for weak spots and strike every opening." He leaned in closer, "Don't worry, Shrimp. I've fought for years, it's all second nature now, okay?"
She nodded and resumed her coach-ish speech. "Good, and when all else fails?" She asked, a small smirk pulling at her lips.
He pulled a full blown grin. "Beat the crap out of 'em."
"That's my dragon." She embraced him and walked to a front row seat and sat, a pride-filled face pointing directly at him.
"IN THE OTHER CORNER, A NEWCOMER TO THE RING, DOES HE HAVE THE STUFF TO BEAT THE "IRON DRAGON"? ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT! PLEASE PUT YOU HANDS TOGETHER FOR JJJEEETTT!
In the blink of an eye, a skinny man was in the other side of the ring. He pumped his fists in the air, spurring the crowd to a uproar.
Both men walked to the middle of the ring.
The old man turned from his mic and whispered, "A nice, fair fight you hear? Shake hands."
The two complied. They took their stances.
"THREE... TWOOOO... ONE! FIGHT!!!"
Gajeel snagged Jet's hands in one of his massive fists, and knocked him cold with the other.
Makarov began slapping the ground. He counted the seconds then yelled, "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, OUR WINNER, GAJEEL REDFOX!"
He raised both fists high in the air, already scanning the front row for a joyous bluenette. His face fell when he didn't see the bobbing ball of blue.
He quickly exited the arena, throwing sweatpants and a old FTFC tee over his boxing shorts.
He burst into the alley, unconsciously crossing his arms because if the cold.
His sneakers crunched against old wrappers and other unidentifiable garbage that littered the alleyways, his senses on high alert.
His manager, Shrimp he liked to call her, never missed any of his fights.
Never...
~Flashback~
The moon was hidden behind dark clouds, only the streetlights illuminated the path in front of Gajeel Redfox. He had just made his debut as a rookie fighter in Fairy Tail's A Class, he'd gotten his tail handed to him by some idiot with pink hair. He was
T-I-C-K-E-D.Wanting to let off some steam before returning home, he walked towards the park.
As he jogged across the cement pathway over a small duck-pond, he heard muffled screams from the tree line.
