I Have Plans

The building was hot and sweaty. Music blasted, strobe lights everywhere.

A man walked through the crowd, slowly, but with purpose. He was here for one thing.

He walked confidently to the bar in the back of the club. There were people all around, but in the back corner sat a lone girl.

The man stood beside the girl, who looked bored. He raised a hand to the bartender.

"What'll it be, sir?" He asks.

Everyone who worked here knew who he was, he owned the place.

"Whiskey."

"Right away, sir."

The bartender began preparing the drink. The man turned to the girl.

"Now why would a girl like you be sitting here alone at the bar?" He asks.

She blushes, looks at the man and then blushed even more.

"I came with a friend. But she found another friend, they're dancing now."

"Why aren't you dancing?" The bartender hands him his drink.

"I'm not much of a club person. I'm just here to make sure nothing happens to Bianca."

"Your friend I presume."

"Oh, yeah. I'm Sydney by the way."

"Caleb Fox."

"It's a pleasure to meet you." She says, taking a slow sip of her own drink.

She didn't know who the man was, she didn't know how dangerous he was. If she had known that she wouldn't have stayed and talked with the man.

They talked for a long while at the bar. The night was getting busier and it was getting harder for them to hold their conversation.

"Here, come with me. I know a quiet place." Caleb says.

He doesn't wait for her response before grabbing her hand and pulling her along with him. Sydney wasn't one to break rules or not do what she was told. She felt like she should protest but he seemed like a really nice guy so she didn't resist.

He pulled her upstairs to an office, his office.

"Are we allowed in here?" Sydney asks meekly.

"Of course, it's my office."

"Your office?"

"Yeah, I own this club." Caleb says nonchalantly.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want you to think you had any obligation to talk to me." He says, smiling at her.

She blushes, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Caleb loved the way she blushed.

"So have you ever been to this club before?" He already knew the answer but he wanted to hear it from her.

"Yeah, for my friend Bianca. She gets a little crazy and she wanted a sober friend to go along with her so she'd be safer."

"You don't drink?"

"I'll have the occasionally drink, but I'm not really a drinker."

"How about a glass of wine?"

"Um, sure."

Caleb stands and goes to his own personal collection of liquors. He chooses a white wine, since she's not much of a drinker. While Caleb is doing this, Sydney gets a better look at the man. He was much older than she'd thought. He must be well over fifteen years older than her, maybe even twenty. She felt old being here with him, but decided to stay because he did seem very nice.

He puts a small pill in her cup before turning to give her the cup.

"So, what do you do?" Caleb asks, sitting beside her on the couch.

"I'm still in college, but I'll be graduation soon. I'm hoping to become a teacher."

"That's great."

Caleb watches her take a drink of her wine and smiles. Soon he'd have what he'd been waiting for.

"Any other plans?"

"Oh, I have plans. I want to travel the world. Fall in love, of course. But, you know. Get a job first."

"Of course."

"So is owning this club your only job?"

"No, I have a couple of other businesses."

By now, Sydney is beginning to feel the affects of her drugged drink. She stands quickly, feeling even more dizzy.

"Are you ok?" Caleb ask, standing with her.

"I'm sorry, I'm not feeling good."

"Here, why don't you lie down."

Sydney nods and lies down on the couch. She quickly passes out.

When she awakes she isn't in the office anymore. She looks around, confused. Her head hurt and she felt sick. She was in some sort of bedroom.

Someone walks into the room. She looks at who it is and see Caleb.

"What happened?"

"You passed out, I brought you back to my estate so you could get some quality rest."

"I passed out?"

"Do you remember anything from last night?"

"I remember going up to that office but after that, no."

"Well, at least you're feeling better." Caleb says, smiling at Sydney.

"Thank you for taking such good care of me. Most people wouldn't of done that."

"Well, I think you deserve to be taken care of."

"What do you mean."

Caleb moves and sit beside Sydney on the bed.

"I know this is sudden but I really felt a connection with you." He grabbed her hands for effect. "I was hoping that you would go out with me?"

"Are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" Sydney asks, surprised.

"Yes, please say yes. I'd be the happiest man alive."

"Look, Caleb. I'm not denying that we had a good time last night, because I did. But I need to focus on school. I would love to continue being friends with you and take it slowly. I don't like to rush into things."

Caleb stood abruptly.

"What's wrong?" Sydney asks, confused.

"I've waited so long, I can not wait any longer."

"What are you talking about?"

"You belong with me!" Caleb shouts, making Sydney jump and shake in fear.

The kind man she had began to care about vanished.

"What's going on, Caleb?"

"You are to stay with me."

"What?"

"You are going to be my wife."

"I don't understand." Sydney says, tears beginning to fall.

"Baby, I'm going to take good care of you. I promise. I have it all planned out. Just you wait."

Caleb kissed Sydney on the forehead before walking out of the room, leaving Sydney to cry.
