Sitting in the news control room, I watched as the Cindy, the current weather woman, preparing for her time on the air.
"Is Cindy ready?" Tim, the producer asks me.
"I think so." I tell him.
"You think or you know? She goes on next!"
"Ok ok, I'll find out." I sigh.
Grabbing my radio I call Ashton, one of the camera guys.
"Hey Ashton, is Cindy ready to go on?"
The radio buzzes strangely right before Ashton answers.
"Yup she's ready."
"Ok, thank you." I say. "Tim! She's ready!"
Tim only grunts and I roll my eyes.
Cindy begins her segment, walking over to the green screen and talks about the local weather.
Suddenly, the screens go black and then loud, distorted sounds began blasting from the screens.
I cover my ears, surprised.
"What the hell is going on!" Tim screams.
"It looks like we've locked onto a strange signal." Rick, one of the other assistants, tells Tim.
"Well get it off the air!"
I begin working on my computer, trying to figure out where it was coming from. I lock onto the signal and see that it's coming from some sort of satellite. That didn't make any sense... Nothing in our station was strong enough to pick up a signal like this.
"Rick, come look at this." I call out.
I show Rick where the signal is coming from.
"That's not possible..." He mutters.
All of a sudden a creature comes onto the screen. The distorted sounds become louder and everyone in the station covers their ears.
The foreign creature begins to make sounds from what must be their mouth, it must be speaking in their language.
Subtitles come up on the bottom of the screen.
They read: This is not fake, this is real. We are the creatures from the planet Gifrom. We come in peace, to teach you and learn from you. You will hear from us soon.
And then he was gone. Everyone was silent in the studio. The camera turned back on, onto Cindy.
"Ummmm..."
I quickly put up a screen saying "Sorry for the technical difficulties."
"What the hell was that." I mutter mostly to myself.
"What do we tell the people when we go back on the air? Everyone must be freaking out." Rick asks Tim.
"I guess we tell them the truth. What else can we tell them?"
"We have to, what else can we do?"
We quickly came back on air, telling the public all that we knew, which was pretty much nothing.
In all my entire life, I never imagined that I might witness the first contact with alien creatures. But looks like I did witness it.
This will be an insane story to tell my kids.Sitting in the news control room, I watched as the Cindy, the current weather woman, preparing for her time on the air.
