Today is my birthday and I want nothing in the world more than to see my boyfriend. My boyfriend is in Los Angeles, California, because that’s where he lives. Technically he lives in Santa Monica but spends the majority of his time in Los Angeles. He is a big star in a few famous movies. The biggest role he has probably ever played is the role of Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga. He’s none other than Taylor Lautner. I met him walking down the street one day on my vacation in LA and he took me out for a coffee. I ended up staying a few days longer than expected because of the way Taylor and I connected over coffee.

We’ve been seeing each other for almost nine months now; it will be nine months next week. This is after the Twilight’s he is currently working and promoting a new movie called ‘Tracers’. So far it’s been going great from what I’ve heard. Taylor and I Skype, Face Time, text and talk on the phone to keep in touch. Right now he’s supposed to be in New York doing ‘Tracers’, and is supposed to come see me tomorrow or the next day on his way back from New York.

When I got up I just wanted to stay in bed all day, if Taylor was my only birthday gift I would be happy. So dad wouldn’t suspect anything I got out of bed. Mom and Dad are divorced and I was with my dad last night but we normally do birthdays all together.

My parents had different opinions on me dating an older guy. I am 18 and he is 24 almost 25. My mom wasn’t happy about it at first but she finally warmed up to the idea. Dad is still getting used to the idea, and he’s getting better with us being together. Normally they don’t have to see us together, we being in different states and all, but tomorrow or Thursday will be the real first time they see us together.

When mom took me to LA she saw Taylor and I together but we weren’t together. I got up and walked out into the kitchen where dad made chocolate chip waffles for my special day. “Happy birthday, Carmen,” he said pulling out a fresh waffle from the waffle maker.

I grabbed it and put butter and syrup on it. “Thanks dad,” I told him starting to cut my waffle.

“What do you want to do today,” he asked.

“I don’t know, I don’t really care,” I told him taking a bite of waffle.

After breakfast I got a text from Taylor saying happy birthday and that he was sorry he couldn’t be there. I smiled at the happy birthday part but downed a little bit when he said he couldn’t be here. I took a shower and made myself look good for whatever we were doing today. When Jamie, my sister, came into my room she said dad had a special surprise for me but it was waiting at moms. Whatever it was it couldn’t be as good as Taylor. I didn’t mean to be a downer on my birthday I just really missed him. The last time I really saw him was almost two months ago for a weekend in November.

“Ok, I’ll be ready in a few minutes,” I told her adding the last bit of eye makeup to myself.

Dad started the car and I put on my jacket and joined them. We drove to the other side of town and mom welcomed me with a hug and said happy birthday. She pulled me over to the couch and my dog, Wilson, licked me. Mom handed me an envelope and Jamie was really excited for me to open it.

I opened it and inside was a plane ticket to go see Taylor over the summer, if we aren’t already living together. I live in Kansas, the center of the country, so it’s very rare that he comes to see me.

“Oh my God, thank you so much,” I started to tear up, and almost cried.

I never get anything this special for my birthday.

“You’re welcome,” mom and dad said.

“We are going to dinner tonight, to celebrate your birthday, if that’s ok,” Dad said.

 “That’s fine.”

Later that night I got dressed up to go to dinner at a special restaurant called Ricardo's. It’s not very close to where I live but still a great restaurant.  When we arrived at the restaurant we sat at a table by the water fall at the back of the restaurant. Our waitress came by asking for drinks and I was facing with my back toward the front door.

“Sorry I’m late,” at first I thought I was hallucinating but then I turned around to see a surprise visitor was right behind me.
