Mom finished unpacking and then we went out to lunch then drove over to my college campus. "Carmen, this is an amazing campus," she said.
"Yeah, I think I will enjoy it."
We walked over to the education building and I saw some of the same students I saw Friday look at me. Most of the doors were closed and locked for the summer.
"I like the size," Mom commented once we were out just walking near the library.
"Me too, it's not too big and not too small."
We finished looking around then went and met up with Taylor for dinner. Mom wanted sushi so we met at Ma'Kai restaurant and lounge. Taylor embraced my mom then me.
We went in and sat at a private booth, Taylor and I sitting together with Mom sitting on the other side.
"There's one thing I haven't asked about all day, the engagement," my mom said after we ordered drinks.
"What do you want to know," I asked her.
"Well let me see the ring," I pulled my left hand out from under the table and placed it in her hand.
She rotated it to look at the ring from all angles.
"It's beautiful. I have to say Taylor you are quite the ring buyer," she complimented.
"Thank you, Miranda."
"When's the wedding," mom asked.
"We haven't really set a date, or talked about it much."
"Well when do you want to get married?"
"Possibly the summer after my sophomore year of college."
"Taylor when do you want to get married," my mom asked directing the question at Taylor.
"Whenever Carmen feels ready, whether that be two weeks, two months, or two years from now." I smiled at him.
I didn't know he was so eager.
We ate dinner, finally getting off the topic of weddings and the engagement.
"What time is your flight tomorrow mom?"
"Eight tomorrow morning," she said.
The check came and Taylor immediately grabbed it before my mom could.
"No Taylor, let me pay for it, you guys have done so much for me already."
"No mom, it's our treat."
"Well thanks," she said.
We went home and mom went to her room and Taylor and I stayed downstairs for a little while.
