Riza's POV:
We're outside the hospital. I can't make myself get out of the car.
He loves me?
I can't believe I was so blind. He let me go that night because he wanted to protect me.
The love I once felt comes surging back to me, flowing through my veins.
"Hold Kallie for a second. I need to see Roy." I say to Havoc.
Before he can respond, I slam open the car door, run out and into the hospital.
I swing the door open and run to the receptionist desk.
"What room is Colonel Roy Mustang staying in?" I almost scream.
"Give me one sec, and please lower your voice."
"Sorry, I just really need to see him."
"Let's see, Roy Mustang. How do you spell Mustang?" She asks.
"How else would you spell it? M-U-S-T-A-N-G." I said, clearly frustrated.
"Oh, yes, the Colonel. He's caused quite a bit of fuss in the last few days."
"What room is he in?"
"302. Please, be gentle, he's been in a depression for almost a year!"
"Don't remind me." I say as I run off.
"Have a nice day!" She yells
"Thank you!" I yell back.
I see all of the signs, telling me where to go.
310.
309.
308.
307.
306.
305.
304.
303.
302!
I hold onto the doorway, pulling myself into the doorframe.
Before I even get into the room, I freeze.
There he is, his dark hair the same as it always was, gently waving as he stares out an open window.
I can't contain my joy.
"Roy?" I ask.
He flips his head around faster than he can spark a flame with his alchemy gloves, and his eyes go wide.
"Riza?" He asks softly.
His eyes start to glisten.
I run to his bedside, throwing my arms around him.
I hug him as if we were both to die in the next moment.
"Riza, is it really you?" He says, clearly not believing it.
"It's me Roy." I say, through the tears.
His chin is resting on my shoulder, and I can feel him smile.
"That's the first time he's smiled since you left." Jean states, entering the room with Kallie.
How do I explain her?
"Jean, when did you have a kid?!" Roy asks, "and with which girlfriend?"
"Oh, no, this isn't my kid. It's Riza's."
His mouth drops.
"Roy, I can explain," I say, pushing a piece of his hair behind his ear.
"This has better be good." He says.
Roy's POV:
There was a time when the cherry blossoms out the window would have soothed me.
But now, without her, they are meaningless twigs taking up room.
All of a sudden, I hear the voice of an angel.
"Roy?"
It can't be. She's long gone, she doesn't care about me.
Yet that voice is unmistakeable.
I flip my head over to face this voice.
It can't be.
It's her!
"Riza?" I ask, tears coming to my eyes.
She runs up and embraces me, like she'll never let me go again.
Could I have died from those pills all those days ago? Was I in hell, and now an angel is taking me to heaven?
"Riza, is it really you?"
"It's me, Roy." She says through the tears.
I feel a sensation in the corners of my jaw. I've forgotten this feeling, it's like it's new to me again.
Smiling.
"That's the first time he's smiled since you left." Jean states, entering the room with a baby.
Wait, Jean had a kid? That's very unlike him.
"Jean, when did you have a kid?!" I ask, "and with which girlfriend?"
He looks shocked.
"Oh, no, this isn't my kid. It's Riza's."
My mouth drops.
"Roy, I can explain," She say, pushing a piece of my hair behind my ear.
"This has better be good." I say, anger boiling inside me.
How could she?
