I woke up with a start, clutching the bed sheets tightly to my chest. That dream again. Ever since I escaped the tower that one dream, Dame Gothel laughing as I lay dying, kept haunting me. I always woke up sweating. I'm Rapunzel as you might have guessed. I escaped from the tower some months ago and now I'm on the run, hoping that the enchantress does not get close enough to catch me.

Why, you ask? Well I found out why she took me away to the tower

Why, you ask? Well I found out why she took me away to the tower. I accidentally found her diary in the basket of food she always left me, in the morning and read the whole thing. I was not the only one who was locked up in the tower. It was a kind of a prison. The tower held plenty of girls like me, prisoner to the enchantress. It was standing for centuries. But I could not believe it. She had been so nice to me. I just could not imagine her doing something so evil.

She wanted my blood to make a magical potion that will regain her youth, thus making her more powerful. She has been doing this for centuries now. 29th of February is the deadline. It's when the moon will glow red, the moon of Niradnam. It helps to brew powerful potions just like this one.

I found all this out about a year ago and carefully planned out my escape. I found a hidden staircase on the floor and used it to get out. I even cut my hair short. Dame Gothel realised that I had escaped too late to get a hold of me. She won't be giving up though. The deadline was close, just in a few days time.

I got up from the bed and went out. The sun had just come up. A nice lady had given me a room to sleep in for the night. I usually just lay down below a tree or something.

"So, ready to go Rapunzel," said Damien.

"Yeah sure let's just eat something," I replied. He nodded.

Damien was someone I met on my way. At first he was annoying. Well I never really had a friend, so who was I to judge ? Later on I found him to be quiet helpful.

Damien doesn't have a home. Since he was a kid he's been roaming about, fending for himself, says he has always been on the road. That really doesn't explain how he seems to know at least one or two people from every town, city or village we pass through.

He has a job. Well kind of. He's a thief. Now don't get me wrong. He doesn't steal for himself. He steals from the rich people and gives that to the poor. Sometimes people employ him to steal and give him a share of the stolen stuff. That's how he has been living now for years.

When I told him my story and said that I needed to get as far away as I could, he decided to help me and since then we have been together.
