I am swinging. Alone, on a rusty blue swing set, positioned in the middle of an abandoned field. The field is full of exotic flowers of all colors. The breeze, sweeping my honey hair to the side, some strands unfortunately getting caught in my lashes.

The sounds, the sounds of a stream running. The sound of trees and how each individual leaf moves against the wind. The sounds of my six year old laughter next to a little boys. A boy who just can't be placed into memory.

The old outskirts of New York, the fields that know one ever comes too. The place where anything could happen. My dream place.

The view is wonderful. The view is splendid. The view is a memory that is somehow disoriented. I am happy here. I was happy here.

I sit up in my newly, positioned bed taking in the surroundings. My new room is too quiet, too bare. The creamy colors of the walls are to empty and need life, life that I can't seem to bring to them. I run my hands through my knotty hair, looking over to the clock,

6:00 a.m

Of course. The day I start at Divergent High just couldn't come earlier.

A knock comes at my door, shortly following is the voice of Caleb, my step brother.

"Get up Beatrice, now. You have to be ready to go by the time dads back from the workshop." I sighed, there goes the sliver of peace I felt from the nights dream.

"First, it's Tris. Second, he's not my dad." Instead of continually arguing about how he constantly calls his dad, my step dad, by a name that should only be reserved for true family, I get up and head to the shower. I start cleaning off the nights activity and the sweat gathered on my forehead as I worry about Carl getting home earlier and getting angry that I wasn't ready.

I didn't want to dress up for school, it's not like anything can happen if I decide to wear jeans over shorts. No one could possibly know me and judge me by the color of my shirt. Quickly deciding that I should go with the original skinny jean and cropped sweater look, I eagerly throw my hair into a messy bun, letting it air dry and slip on some sandals.

Caleb is already at the counter as I make my way downstairs. My mind is going over all the different scenarios and possibilities as I sit down in the stool next to his. We had just moved here, I was constantly moving, less since my mom got remarried. Carl, big business rich guy, moved us into Chicago. His reasoning is that we need a big city for big things, when really he is hiding from the people he forgets to pay back or doesn't return a favor too.

"By mom, Caleb and I are leaving." I kiss my mother on the cheek as I pass her and head for the door.

"Beatrice," Carl says as he enters the room. Where did he come from? "You're taking the new car I got you."

"Uhm I'm okay with my car." I say, avoiding eye contact.

"Beatrice, you're taking the new car I got you." He says more sternly as he gets closer, getting a hard grip on my arm and placing the smooth black keys into my hand. Without arguing we leave the kitchen and head outside. Of course, the thoughts start swirling through my head once more.

"Just follow me, don't get lost." Caleb says as he passes by, not so subtly knocking into my shoulder making my body tumble a few inches backwards.

I get into the brand new, slick black car and place the keys into the ignition. My hands roam the steering wheel, the smooth leather texture feeling gently across my finger tips.

"Oh am I going to get noticed in this." I mumble to myself. Exactly what I didn't want on my first day, attention from unwanted eyes. Caleb starts his car and places it into reverse, backing out of the drive way. Me shortly following. The car ride there isn't long, I take most of the time running my eyes over the scenery and taking in the tall beautiful building and how they all slowly disappear as we leave the city and reach the school on the outing of the town.

The school is large, larger then I expected. Students are everywhere on campus, on the grass in the yard, in the parking lot and even some are walking and messing around on the football field that is only a sidewalk away from the school. Caleb and I both park, I try parking as far away from him as I possibly can.

I run inside making sure to leave while no one was watching, I seriously didn't need unwanted attention. I make my way in the building and follow the signs that lead to the main office.

"Hello, I am new to the school and I was wondering if I could get my schedule along with my locker number and combination." I tried sounding politely as I could but I was fidgeting and getting anxious.

"Oh my goodness hi!" A high pitched voice said from behind me.

Oh shit. I slowly turn around looking over my shoulder, eyes slightly wide as I come face to face with a girl who is easily a few inches taller then I am with mocha skin color.

"Hi?" I say, but it comes out more as a question then as a statement.

"I'm Christina, I'm an office aid and I have your schedule and locker information. I made sure we had the same classes so you'd have me, you're new bff, in each class so you knew someone!" She literally said that all in one breath.

Damn. I couldn't even respond.

"Oh thanks." That is the only thing that came out of my mouth. Get it together Tris! Make some new friends once in a fucking while.

Christina walks me out of the office and towards my locker where we have small talk about all the clicks, clubs, sports and activists going on in the school. I place the last thing in my locker as I turn and face her.

"So there's obviously a lot going on here at Divergent High isn't there?" I ask stating the obvious. We continue walking to our first class.

"Yah it's great though. You meet new people there." She says while leading the way.

"Oh that's gre-" I couldn't finish my sentence as I collide hard into something. More like someone as I notice the strong arms and toned chest. I look up and come across the most mesmerizing blue eyes.

"Tobias?" I whisper under my breath. His eyes widen slightly as he steps back and hurries off going in the opposite direction as Christina and I.

"Wow." Christina says beside me.

"Wow what?" I ask still going over what just happened. There's no way that was Tobias, he is in New York and I haven't seen him in years.

"He must really like you."

"Who?" I ask still stunned.

"Four. If someone ran into him like that they wouldn't walk for at least a week." She says still ignoring the fact that I haven't been able to make out a sentence with more then 5 words.

"Four." I say quietly, I keep repeating it to myself over and over again. His name isn't four.
