Christina and I walk into our first class together, HS Algebra 1a. I take a look around the class and see everyone spread at different tables talking in groups. I look towards the front, ready to give the teacher my notice saying I'm a new student when the front board catches my eye. Sitting arrangements. You're fucking kidding me? High school and the teachers are making us sit in groups? I look down the list looking for Christina and myself.
Table 7:
Beatrice
Zeke
Uriah
FourShit. I look farther down for Christina.
Table 9:
Christina
Lauren
Marlene
LynnOf course out of the whole class I'm sitting without Christina and with the boy I ran into in the hall. I'm still not convinced it's Tobias. It just couldn't be. I make my way to the back table stopping by Christina's first so she can give me her oh-so-welcoming advice.
"Whatever you do, don't make eye contact." She says, I laugh out loud getting some attention but when I realize she isn't laughing back I stop immediately. "You're not kidding."
Before she could reply the teacher makes her way in the classroom and heads towards her seat, that must be my cue to sit. I take a seat next to who I presume is Uriah. As I place my class books on the table and start writing the notes that are written on the board Uriah and the one who ain't Four, so Zeke, start making gestures with their eyebrows. Uriah gives me the okay symbol with his fingers with Zeke whistles lowly under his breathe. Four on the other hand is just sitting there, staring at me. Making me slightly uncomfortable I slide in my seat and try to get the unshakeable feeling off.
As if the class couldn't have gone by any slower the bell decides to ring just as Uriah was about to open his mouth and say something to me. I didn't know if I should be grateful or concerned.
"Damn Tris, you have something really special in you to have them running circles around you." I just giggle at her statement, a slight blush coming to my cheeks.
"Do you want to sit with us at lunch?" Christina asks as we enter our second block.
"I would love to thanks!" I had to act natural. I wasn't the best at making friends if you couldn't tell and I didn't know how to act or what to say. I was sure they wouldn't realize how awkward I am at some point but for now I just need to act like I'm a normal girls with normal problems.
The next few classes flew by in no time, and the next thing I knew I was walking down the sidewalk on the outside of the building with Christina to get to the cafeteria which was located in a different building. As we enter the cafeteria I follow Christina and she else's me over to a group of students who are all laughing at something unknown. As we approach the table the all seem to ease their laughter and take notice to me, the weird blonde chick next to their friend.
"Guys, this is Tris Prior. She is new and I invited her to sit with us. Tris this is Marlene, Shauna, Lynn, Zeke, Uriah and Four." Chris says as she points to each one individually.
I smile and wave to no one in particular and take a seat between Marlene and Chris. Soon enough we all start making small talk.
"Did you guys see that slick black Lamborghini out in the parking lot?" Uriah brought up. Oh shit. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want them to know I owned that dumbass car. It was nice but it wasn't...me.
"Nope." We all said but I was still mentally laughing when picturing their faces when they eventually found out it was mine.
"So I am forcing all of the girls to go to cheer tryouts with me soon." Christina announced.
