Romeo and Juliet

Millie's pov

We are back at school after the 2 and a half week break, which I enjoyed. My mom and I have gotten closer since the surgery, and I'm happy with my life right now. Finn and I are still a thing but haven't made anything official yet. Romeo hasn't bothered me since the situation with Finn, either. I walk into language class, and I'm sitting next in my group, with Finn across from me, and the 2 other people that aren't my friends and not bothering to know their names, next to us.

"Okay class, we are going to do a play. Other students are going to vote who should be who. If you get voted for a character, you have to play them. You will get extra credit, too. This will probably take us 2 to 3 weeks to make, so let's get going!!! I'm passing out a paper to go around the room, and put the persons name under the character, and we will see who will get whos character. We are doing the play "Romeo and Juliet"."

My eyes widen. I can't act, I can barely talk to other people. I don't think anyone notices me, so I probably won't get casted. I look at Finn and he gets the paper and he looks at for a second before smiling. What is he smiling about? He wrote down someone's name for something, then he gave it to me, smiling. I furrowed my eyebrows at him and took the paper gently, and saw the casting. Finn was the only guy who was voted for Romeo, and of course, I was the only girl that was voted for Juliet. Everyone has heard that we have a thing, so that's probably why they wrote my name down. I look up at Finn with a worried look.

"I have stagefright, I can barely talk to people other than my friends." I told Finn.

"I'll be up there with you." He said, smiling. I just put down a name and passed it to the next group. Oh boy.

"Okay class, looks like we definitely have our Romeo and Juliet," my teacher said, looking at Finn and I.

"But I will get back with the rest of the parts tomorrow." She said, and the bell rang. We all grabbed our bags and walked out. Finn walked with me to math, since he has it too. I held his hand, and he looked at me and smiled. We got to math and we sat down next to each other, letting go of each other's hands. Sadie talked to us for a bit, and so did Noah.

"I got the part for Juliet in our play." I said, quietly.

"Really!!! Do you know who Romeo is??!!" Sadie said, excited for me. I look over to Finn and he smiles at me.

"Oh my gosh, you're Romeo!! That's gonna be so cute, since you guys are already boyfriend and girlfriend." I looked at her, trying to tell her that Finn and I aren't dating. She finally got it, and winked at me. We sat talking for a while when of course, Kate, came up to our group. Kate is basically the most popular girl in school, above us.

"I heard that you got the part for Juliet." She said, in a mean tone. I'm assuming she wants to be Juliet.

"Um, yeah." I said, trying to avoid talking to anyone besides my friends.

"Well, I feel bad for Finn here, a girl that doesn't talk has to play his Juliet? Ha, you probably won't even make it past the first line. You should just hand the part over to me, considering Finn and I." When she said something about Finn, I looked at her, then looked at Finn and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, and his lips were parted, like he was trying to think of something to say.

"Look, you still don't have any words! What a loser. You're totally gonna embarrass the whole school with the play." She said. I was getting mad.

"Well, I guess I'll see you in Language tomorrow, and I'll see you too, Finn." She said, smiling at Finn then winking at him, then walking away. I turn back to Finn, and he just has the same expression on his face.

"What was that? What's going on? Do you...like her?" I said, hesitating on my last question, scared to hear the answer.

"No, I don't like her. I like you, always. We used to like each other before I met you, and we were dating for a while. She probably just wanted to get the Juliet part, so she's just trying to bring you down to give up the part." Finn said. I look back down to my desk. They used to date. She's gonna keep bringing that up to me, if she talks to me again.

"She did what!!" Maddie said, while we were all in the bathroom, before lunch, talking.

"Yeah, and her and Finn used to date!!" Sadie said, and they all turned to me.

"Don't you see her as a threat??" Grace asked me.

"Well, yeah, if she tries something on Finn, but Finn and I aren't even dating, so he can kiss her and everything and he wouldn't be breaking the rules, because we aren't even dating." I said, looking in the mirror.

"I'd punch her right in the face if I found her kissing Finn. That's your man." Sadie said, and we all laughed. We eventually came out of the bathroom and sat down at lunch. Finn was already there, and I sat next to him, and he smiled at me, and I smiled back. I held my hand with his under the table, and we just sat and talked for a little.

"Well, here we are again!! Finn, you know you don't have to sit here, you can sit next to me." Kate said, winking at Finn. I let go of Finns hand and put it on the table, leaving Finns hand on his lap.

"I don't know what you're doing Kate, but you need to stop." Finn said.

"Finn, I know you still like me, come on." She said, looking at him. I felt like I wanted to die, right there. If Finn likes her..I don't know what I would do.

"I really don't. Please go." He said, in a serious tone.

"Fine, see you later!!" She said smiling at him, and turning and leaving. I look at Finn with a straight face. He looks into my eyes, and I get lost in his. After a while, I snapped out of it, and I looked back down to the table.

"I don't like her." Finn said to me, trying to assure me.

"Okay." I said, as the bell rang. Finn and I walked in silence to my study hall, and when we got there, we stopped by the door.

"I'll see you later I hope?" He asked me, holding my hand, looking down at our hands.

"I hope so too." I smiled, kissed him, then let go of his hand and walked into my study hall. I read my book the whole time, and soon enough, the bell rang. I walked out and went to my locker, and put some of my binders away. I closed my locker, then walked outside. I saw Finn talking to Grace, but didn't think much of it. I went to my car and drove home.
