My first week of school had finally ended and now it was time for the weekend. The last few days I had spent hanging out with Heaven and her friends. By then they were my friends too. I had also spent some more time with Roland. We had gotten fairly close now. He told me more about our species. It was strange for me. I lived a lot of my life hearing stories about children of the sea, but in reality, I was actually one myself.

Roland pointed out that I was a bit different from the rest. Most children of the sea had dark hair like brown or black, but I had pale creme hair. He said it was very rare and it was normally a sign of a very special person who had different abilities. He told me about what kind of 'talents' we could have. Most were strong, had beautiful voices and could breathe underwater, but he could also cast illusions. Being able to do make illusions was actually pretty rare according to him. I, on the other hand, wasn't sure I any abilities besides singing.

When I was younger I would sing for Theodor as we did chores together. Sometimes when it was late we would sit by the fireplace. I would draw pictures (They were really just colors in shapes or scribbles on a piece of paper) and sing to him while he read his book.

Roland had reassured there was more to me than I thought though. He told me there was something very strong that I just hadn't found yet. I felt skeptical, but I never told him I was. I felt it would be really rude to do so. I just went along with what he had to say.

A sharp, annoyingly repetitive knock pulled my attention away from the book I was reading for my literature class. I set it the door and hurried to the door, pulling it open. At the door, I saw Heaven, showing me a bright smile.

"Elsie! There is going to be a party tomorrow. You have gotta go with me." She said sounding like she just drank way too much coffee.

"I-I'm not really... A party type of person." I tried to decline, but she shook her head.

"Oh come on, girl. You're in high school. Ya gotta live a little." She pleaded

"I don't even have anything party appropriate. I kinda dress like an old librarian." I mumble.

"True.... I'll take you shopping!" She sounded a bit too thrilled with her idea.

Within minutes I was being dragged from the comfort of my quiet dorm to the parking lot. I sighed as I saw a familiar, fancy black car. Heaven and I stopped next to it and she pulled a phone from her purse. I didn't have one because Theodor never had money to buy one, but I didn't want one anyways.

"Angel," She said after dialing a number, "You gotta drive me to town. Come out to your car now."

And with that, she hung up. After about a minute I saw Angel trudged out of the doors towards us. He didn't seem too happy, giving me a bit of a glare. Naturally, I avoided eye contact with him, trying not to let him intimidate me. Of course, he did intimidate me a whole lot.

"Get in." He grumbles as he walks past the two of us. Heaven squeals with excitement as she pulls the door open. The two of us climb into the back seat as Angel starts the car up. We all get buckled before we leave the parking lot.

"I can't wait to go shopping with you." Heaven smiles at me as we drive down the road.

"Shopping?" Angel looked at her in the rearview mirror, raising a questioning eyebrow.

"Oh yes! We're going to a party tomorrow. Elsie and I are going shopping to look for some cute clothes that don't look like they belong to a granny." She lets out a soft giggle.

I took in a deep breath, knowing it would be a long day of shopping when I could have been reading my book. When I glanced at Angel I realized he must have felt the same way as me. It was the weekend and he was being forced to go along with shopping girls instead of doing guy stuff.
