That day was the last time you saw Chase for about a week. You were doing some Christmas shopping (yes, you were the kind of person who did stuff last minute) at a few little shops in the town. You were considering using your superspeed so you could head to the mainland to do some shopping there. Not that there weren't a lot of things in Hawaii, just that with your speed, you could go anywhere. For example, you could go to Japan to get Layla something from her favorite Anime and be back on the same day.

You entered a little shop that sold dreamcatchers, "lucky" charms, and little things like that. You held a dream catcher in your hand, weighing it with your fingers and watching the colors.

"Flypaper for nightmares," said a voice from behind you. You sighed as you turned around.

"Didn't know you watched Once Upon a Time," you said, looking at Chase.

He shrugged. "I started watching it after you left. 'Remembered you liked it."

You looked down, biting your lip.

"So how's Rocco?" You looked up at him, only to find his hands shoved into his jeans' pockets and his eyes focused on the ground. His hair was slicked back messily and without product, like he had run a hand through the locks of brown hair.

"He's okay. Been working a lot recently. Haven't seen him since Layla's birthday."

He nodded, biting his lip. You were both silent for about thirty seconds before he spoke again. "That doesn't strike you as suspicious? Like at all?"

"No," you said, shaking your head. "It's not suspicious. He works at Ronald's on the corner of Lagoon and Wharf. It's one of the busiest shops at this time of year and they want to keep their staff full of people close to the founder's family. Rocky's family is the closest family to the original owners'."

Chase's fair-skinned hands exited his pockets before overlapping yours. Your breathing hitched as his skin pressed against yours. "What I wanted to say last week - before you interrupted me - was that I finally have you back, (Y/n), I'm not ready to let you go again. I will win you back. That's a promise."

And with those words, he left you in the shop, the warmth of his hands over yours still lingering. You looked at the dreamcatcher before placing it back on the shelf.

"-And he actually said that?" Layla asked as she placed a mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows melting and dribbling off the edges. She sat down next to you as you held the mug in your hand, curling into a ball and taking the sleeve of your thin sweater over your hand and grabbing the ceramic glass.

You nodded. "I don't know how to feel, Layla," you said, sipping your mug of chocolate and sugar. "One part of me wants to believe him. That he'll fight this time."

She placed her mug on the table in front of the two of you. "Do you love Rocky?"

"Of course."

"But you still love Chase."

You sighed. "Yeah. Okay, I admit it. I still love him. But he put me through so much pain. I don't want to endure that again."

"He was letting you go. He was being a smart guy."

The thought went through your head.

"If you really love someone, you let them go. If they come back, then it was real," Layla said wisely, sipping her drink.

You nodded. "I guess we both let each other go. He came back."

You both took a sip of your cocoa. You looked down at the mug, finding the taste to be weird. Weirder than normal for cocoa without two packets of the mix. "Baileys?" You looked at Layla with a look of suspicion.
