It's been a while but here it is... Apologies for the long overdue update

Alison's pov

I saw Emily across the lobby facing the reception. She was talking on her phone while she waited for her key card. As much as I am certain I want to hang out with her, I still have no idea how to proceed. I'm really not sure how to approach her, mostly because I feel nervous and my hands are clammy and I can't seem to find the right words to speak like a normal human being.

Then, like a light bulb that miraculously lit up just above my head, I remembered I kinda promised to take care of Emily's car being sent to the hotel's parking space. Suddenly, I found my excuse to make my approach and say something that would totally seem normal.

After an inconsequential amount of time staring at her like a rude idiot, I took a deep breath and started to move away from the revolving doors where I just noticed I had been standing idly. I brushed my hair with my fingers, feeling self conscious all of a sudden.

Okay, here goes nothing...

"Hi..." I said tentatively, gauging Emily's reaction to my presence yet again.

She turned, still talking on her phone but managed to smile wide at me...and instantly there goes the swarm of moths in my stomach, unleashed yet again... How she's able to elicit these feelings from me is a mystery I will never be able to solve.

"...yeah, I'll call again later... bye," I heard her say before she hung up her phone and greeted me, "Hi there!"

"Yeah, hi! Okay, uhm... So... Yeah, I was just going to try to call a tow truck to get your car here and - "

"I already did a few minutes ago... but thanks," her voice was a little hoarse, kinda sounds like she's about to have a sore throat. She stepped closer to me as she struggled to adjust her bag on her shoulders and the bunch of folders in her arms.

"Well, then... uhm... that's... that's good... Do you need anything else? Like I don't know, maybe I can help you with those perhaps..." I nervously nodded to her belongings cradled in her arms. I swear I could've looked and sounded like a moron, with all the confidence I used to have in me thrown out the fancy windows of this hotel.

Crap! I really feel stupid and lame right now, not able to come up with a better response as I stood there, rocking the balls of my feet with my hands tucked in the pockets of my parka. I'm kinda wishing the shiny marbled floor would open up and swallow me in then close again and be done with my awkward self. It's been years since I went past the excruciating stage of puberty, yet I'm acting like a lovesick teenager in front of my ultimate girl crush. I just don't know how to handle myself and my emotions properly when every single time Emily can make my heart pound harder than a sledgehammer and turn my brain into a useless squishy puddle.

"That's really nice of you, Ali..." Emily said, seemingly unsure as well whether to let me help her or not.

By impulse or by overly active hormones, I didn't give her a chance to decline and reached out to take the bunch of file folders from her arms. She was a little baffled but she allowed me to snatch her stuff anyway.

"T-thanks... Uhm... Have you eaten yet? Maybe you could join me for dinner if you feel like it..." She asked moments after she retrieved her hotel room key from the reception and we began to move towards the elevator.

We stepped inside along with an elderly couple and a guy in a fancy suit. But I paid them least attention because Emily got my heart racing in an epic speed this time. Did she just ask me to have dinner with her? ...Like dinner dinner? ...or just I'm starving I just wanna eat dinner kind of dinner? Heck! I'm not making sense even to myself. Useless squishy brain...
