They all looked up at the tall and ominous building in front of them as they approached it carefully.
"Waller? We're about to enter the building, get that chopper ready." Flag said into the radio on his uniform. Deadshot walked in front of the soldiers, over to Flag.
"What do you say we get this over with?" he stated as he continued walking into the building.
"What the hell? Deadshot! Fall back!" Flag ordered, he didn't listen. The glass door busted and fell to the ground as he pushed it open. The soldiers began following him, the squad behind them.
"You mind if we tag along?" Flag asked as he reached Deadshot. They walked up to a counter and looked at the security footage, it showed no humanoid creatures anywhere.
"Looks like we have a spot of luck, eh? Be a walk in the park. Easy peasy." Boomerang stated with a grin.
"Don't make me shoot you." Deadshot told him, making him laugh before they began walking on. All of a sudden they heard an elevator bell, they look up to see Harley in the elevator, waving down at them.
"God dammit! Harley!" Deadshot called out as they began running up the stairs quickly. They got to the elevator just before it opened. Revealing Harley standing in between the bodies of two mutants.
"Hey guys!" she said happily as she walked out and past the group. They all just stood their watching her for a second.
"Come on, lets go!" Harley said as she turned back and looked at them. They all shook it off and began walking into an office, slowly, looking all around them. Flag suddenly stopped.
"Hold!" he ordered.
"I don't like this, Flag." Deadshot said, speaking the truth for all of the people there.
"I don't like it either." he answered. Deadshot finally put on his white mask for the first time the entire night.
"Pussy." Harley said with a smile.
"I will knock your ass out. I do not care that you're a girl." he responded. Just then all the humanoid creatures began dropping from the ceiling all around them. The loud sound of machine guns took over everyone's ears as they began fighting. One of them got a hold of Demetria, she disintegrated into water and rushed over behind El Diablo, hiding behind him until her clothes reappeared. No one noticed this action, and she came out from behind him, shooting 'water bullets' from her palms, exploding the heads of the creatures. Just then Demetria saw one of them attack Boomerang, stabbing him in the chest.
"Dad!" she yelled out, running towards him, he sat up, pulling a wad of cash out of his shirt, with the knife stuck in it.
"You Arsehole! I thought you were done for!" she exclaimed as she helped him to his feet.
"You called me dad." he pointed out. She groaned and shot water in his face again.
"Don't get used to it!" she snapped before walking back towards El Diablo.
"They after Flag again!" Deadshot shouted over the din.
"Circle up! Circle around him!" Deadshot ordered, and everyone except for El Diablo and Demetria surrounded him.
"Let me fight!" Flag yelled.
"You die, we die." Deadshot informed him. The soldiers took out the rest of them, with a little help from Demetria.
"Clear! Everyone move out." Flag stated and they walked out onto a balcony overlooking the entrance to the building. Just as they walked out there, more guns started firing as more mutants were on the other side of the building. Deadshot slammed El Diablo against a wall, knocking Demetria down in the process. Then he pulled off his mask.
"Where you been, homie?" Deadshot asked.
"This ain't my fight." El Diablo answered.
"Leave him be, Deadshot!" Demetria stated, crawling to her feet again. He ignored her.
"You know what? You don't stand for shit. You ain't about shit!" Deadshot yelled. Poking him slightly.
"Don't touch me, man!" El Diablo yelled.
"Don't touch you?" Deadshot asked purposefully tapping on his head.
"Don't touch me!" he yelled again
"What you gonna do? I'm touching you! I'm touching you! Do something."
"Don't touch me!"
"Do something!"
"You wanna see something?" El Diablo asked.
"Yeah, I wanna see..."
"You wanna see something?" El Diablo asked again, pushing Deadshot back.
"Yes, I wanna see something!" he yelled back.
"No! Don't!" Demetria yelled as she ran towards El Diablo, she was pushed back by the force of the heat as flame throwers escaped his hands, torching the entire opposite side of the building, as bodies fell over the balcony. When he finally stopped, his breathing was heavy, and Demetria crawled off the floor again. She aimed her hands at the fire, and doused it so it wouldn't spread. She gave a disappointing look to El Diablo who looked down at his feet.
"I was just trying to get you there. Phil Jackson, we good, right?" Deadshot asked, putting his hands up in the air in front of him. Harley ran up to him and wrapped her arms around him as she planted a kiss on his cheek.
"I knew you'd come through." She said excitedly before turning him lose.
"That's shit crazy." Deadshot stated. The soldiers blew a hole in the wall and they all began climbing up the innermost stairwells of the building. El Diablo turned to look at Demetria, the sadness clear in his eyes.
"I'm sorry." he stated, his voice barely above a whisper.
"It's fine. Looks like we both have a bit of a temper, eh?" she responded with a small laugh, he smiled back at her as they kept walking up. Harley stopped and looked down.
"I gotta work on my cardio." she whispered out as everyone began passing her on the stair well. She had disappeared into that world again, reliving a sad memory. When she finally snapped out of it, she aimed her gun at the person behind her, Deadshot. He stuck his hands in air in defense.
"Whoa! Relax. It's just me." he stated.
"You ever been in love?" she asked, still holding her gun to his face.
"Nah, never."
"Bullshit." she responded, the gun in her hand shaking slightly.
"You don't kill as many people as I've killed and still sleep like a kitten if you feel shit like love." he clarified. She finally dropped her gun and sighed, a smile playing on her lips.
"Another textbook sociopath." she stated as they began walking upwards again. They finally walked into a small office, Flag turned to one of his soldiers.
"Clear the roof. Sweep for shooters so we can bring in our aviation assets." he ordered, the soldiers headed for the roof.
"Just oh... Wait here. Please. I don't wanna gave this dude a heart attack, okay?" Flag stated as he held his hand out at the group, then began walking towards a steel door.
"Aww. He's embarrassed of us." Harley said with a smile.
"Hey, Flag. This dude better cure cancer after all of this shit." Deadshot stated right before Flag walked in.
"You ready? Let's go." Flag said as he walked down to retrieve the target.
"You wouldn't have made it without them." Amanda Waller said as she began packing up her briefcase.
"We got lucky. I don't do luck. I do planning and precision." Flag flared.
"Admit it, Rick. I was right." Amanda stated.
"Yeah, I told you to get on the damn truck. Why did you stay?" Flag asked angrily.
"I was studying your girlfriend. She takes an average person... A yoga mom, an elderly retiree and she turns them into a soldier who can take a headshot and still fight. It's an instant army. How'd she do it, Flag? How'd she game the system with you watching her every move?" Amanda asked, pointing to a board full of cameras, and intel. They didn't notice Deadshot was walking down towards them.
"I'll accept the consequences." he answered.
"I am your consequence." she threatened.
"You might need to be careful. They think we're rescuing Nelson Mandela." Deadshot said as he reached them.
"I can take care of myself." Amanda clarified.
"Shut it down, wipe the drivers." she ordered.
"Yes, ma'am. Copy that." a few of them responded.
"Hey man, I know you can't hear me 'cause you're trapped in your temple of soldierly self-righteousness. But a two-faced dude like you wouldn't survive a second on the street." Deadshot spoke to Flag.
"Oh, says the guy who shoots people for money." he retorted.
"My cards is on the table, man." Deadshot said honestly.
"It got done, didn't it?" Flag asked. Then a bunch of fires could be heard as Amanda went around the office shooting the people who had previously been running the computers.
"Damn. That is just... A mean lady." Deadshot stated.
"Yeah, you'll get used to it." Flag responded.
"And I'm the bad guy? That's gangsta." Deadshot finished as he walked past Amanda and headed back up to the room where the rest of the squad was waiting.
"What? They weren't cleared for any of this, any of it." Amanda explained.
"I'm not judging. I've buried a lot of mistakes too." Flag said honestly as they began walking up. The door opened and all of the squad turned to look at who was walking in. Their faces were full of shock as they saw Amanda Waller walk into the room.
"No way." Harley stated, the entire squad, including Demetria began to advance on Amanda and Flag.
"Let's go home." Flag stated, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, let's go home. That sounds good. You guys wanna go home? Or you wanna go back to prison?" Boomerang asked, Demetria put her arm on his shoulder, her other hand holding El Diablo's.
"I'm not going back to prison." Harley stated.
"What I'm saying is... We kill the pair of 'em now before they kill us." Boomerang continued, Katana stepped forward with her swords. Amanda pushed her back.
"I got this. You all made it this far. Don't get high-spirited on me and ruin a good thing." Amanda stated. Waving her phone with their bomb detonations on it. Then she, Flag, and Katana walked past the entire group.
"I like her." Killer Croc growled out. Deadshot turned to Demetria.
"Well, what are you hiding? Ain't you supposed to be up there with your 'good guys'?" he asked, feeling very angry, and with every right to feel so.
"Notice who I've stood by this entire time, mate. If that's what good looks like, then I'd rather be bad." she stated, gripping onto El Diablo's hand a bit tighter.
"That's my girl." Boomerang said proudly as they began heading up to the roof.
"Savior 1-0, this is ground element. Savior 1-0, how copy? Savior 1-0, the LZ's clear. Boss, they're not talking to me." one of the soldiers stated.
"Our bird's been jacked. Light it up!" Flag ordered. Before they could take a shot, a line of bullets were headed toward them, a Gatling Gun firing down on them. Demetria produced a water shield in front of Boomerang, El Diablo, and herself. "Get down! This won't hold forever!" she yelled as they walked backwards to find something to hind behind. Finally they found some sort of rectangular structure, and they got down behind it, Demetria letting her shield down. Deadshot was hiding with Harley, who had her fingers in her ears, making Deadshot look at her strangely.
"What? I got a hickey or something?" Harley asked, then her phone rang. A message from the Joker was across it 'NOW!' She smiled as she let out a laugh and stood up, Deadshot was shaking his head no.
"Harley!" Deadshot yelled as she walked right beside the line of fire, heading towards the helicopter.
"Hello, baby." Joker said as he threw a rope down to Harley.
"Kill her!" Amanda yelled to Flag.
"Her nanite's disarmed!" Flag yelled back.
"Come on, baby." Joker called to Harley, she stripped of her jacket and leaped on to the rope. The shooting stopped, and they all stood back up, Harley was blowing kisses to them all as the copter pulled away.
"Deadshot... Shoot that woman, right now!" Amanda ordered.
"She ain't do shit to me." he stated.
"You're a hitman, right? I got a contract. Kill Harley Quinn. Do it your freedom and your kid." Amanda offered.
"Now she dead." he stated as he took aim. He fired his weapon and Harley fell limp on the rope. A few seconds later she leaped back to life and began laughing as she twirled on the rope.
"I missed." Deadshot lied easily.
"Good one, mate." Boomerang praised him.
"It's Waller. Savior 1-0's been hijaked. Shoot it down." Amanda ordered into her walkie talkie.
"Target destroyed, ma'am" a voice came through the walkie talkie after the helicopter exploded on the ground.
"Thank you. Now get me off this roof." she ordered, then turned to the squad.
"The joker and Harley Quinn are no more." she stated plainly.
"You couldn't save her." Boomerang said to Deadshot. Demetria rubbed his arm.
"God knows you tried." she whispered out before returning to El Diablo. Then a Helicopter landed on the building pulling Amanda into it.
"Standby, I'll send another helo!" she said as they strapped her down and the helicopter took off. Some strange arm like energy ripped the helicopter from the sky, it crashed to the ground hitting a bus.
"The mission's not over." Flag stated as he approached the squad.
"Nah, it is for me. We had a deal." Deadshot responded.
"Without Waller, you got nothing." he finished as they began traveling back down off the building. It was beginning to rain. When they finally got back out onto the street, Harley was sitting on top of a car, crying. She took off her PUDDIN choker, and threw it aside onto the ground. Then she straightened herself up as she saw the squad walking towards her.
"Hey, guys. I'm back! I missed you all so much." she said happily.
"We're glad you could make it." Deadshot stated before walking over and helping her onto the ground.
"Hey, craziness." Boomerang called, throwing Harley her bat. They walked to the helicopter Amanda was in, only she wasn't there.
"So, let me guess. We're going to the swirling ring of trash in the sky. You know, 'cause why wouldn't we? When does this end, Flag?" Deadshot asked, irritated.
"Load up. We're in for a fight." Flag stated as he walked away. Deadshot stayed behind for a moment and found a folder, Top Secret was written across it. He looked through it briefly before storming past the squad and up to Flag.
"You tell everybody, everything. Or me and you are gonna go right now." Deadshot threatened. All of the squad turned their attention to Flag.
"3 days ago, a non-human entity appeared in the subway station. So Waller sent me and a woman with incredible abilities. A witch. See, nobody could get near this thing, but... The witch could. Needless to say the whole thing was a bad idea. And that's how she escaped from Waller. So now you know." Flag explained.
"You can just kill me right now but... I'm going to have a drink." Deadshot said, walking towards the bar.
"Hey, Deadshot, I need your help." Flag called out.
"No, sir. You need a miracle." Deadshot finished before walking into the bar. Harley followed him, giving a bow before leaving. Captain Boomerang nodded his head at Flag before walking into the bar as well. El Diablo patted Killer Croc on the shoulder as they walked into the bar, Demetria following them. Finally Katana looked down, feeling used, she walked into the bar last. Leaving Flag standing in the rain, utterly helpless.
