Sedayne 2002 - New Job. New Start.

Sedayne is miserable; she hates her job so much. It’s boring, predictable and she will never find it acceptable to force products on customers to meet targets, “it’s a charity for peat’s sake” she says out loud to herself, why would a charity even have targets and she hated, hated, hated, being told to hang up the phone on rambling old people. It was just plain mean and no matter how many times her managers desperately gave her hand signals for her to end the call she always refused. Sedayne quickened her steps towards the station, when the rain started to come down faster. ‘For fucks sake’ she cursed as she skidded across the tile floor as she entered the station. She ran down the escalator steps and on to the platform just as a train was pulling in. She boarded the underground train sat down and sighed. At least work was over for today, and now she on her way to meet her gorgeous boyfriend Paul from work.

The shutters were down by the time she arrived at Gap in Oxford Circus. She saw Paul near the till and lightly tapped the shutters to get his attention. Paul walked over and opened the shutters for her. Sedayne always caught her breath at the sight of Paul. Paul is eleven years older than Sedayne, tall and his body shape plus the fact that he actually owns a navy blue duffle coat reminds her of Paddington bear. He has mousy brown hair, which flicks up at the ends if he doesn’t get his haircut on time. He has a pointy nose and thin lips, and Sedayne’s favourite feature on Paul is his bright green eyes with lashes that always look like they have been curled with an eye lash curler. You can tell exactly what mood Paul is in just by looking into his eyes. Pauls eyes can make her weak at the knees, do anything he asks including getting her to strip down naked!  Sedayne throws herself at Paul, enveloping him in a hug. Paul bends down and kisses the top of her head “hey baby girl, how was work today?” Sedayne groans “exactly the same as yesterday, I hate it” she says through pouty lips and stamps her foot as if she is having a tantrum.  Paul looks up from counting the stores takings, winks at her and smiles “you will get a new job soon baby, I promise”. A smile forms at the corner of her lips, Paul always knew the right things to say.  Her mind drifted back to when she had met Paul whilst working at Gap herself. He was her manager and at first they did not get along, in fact Sedayne hated him.  At some point they realized they were in the same situation with the relationships they were in and they got talking. He wasn’t her type so she didn’t see any harm in it, but then she really started to like him. Then the flirty innuendo’s started which turned into touching, and then the touching turned into kissing and... “come on baby girl, let’s go” Paul’s voice interrupted her thoughts. Sedayne took Paul’s hand and smiled, however it happened she was glad to have him.

They walked to the station holding hands, both of them listening to their iPod shuffles. They boarded the DLR and managed to get their favourite seats at the front facing the window, so they could watch the city lights as they went by. Sedayne was lost in a song by Amy Winehouse, when Paul tapped on her shoulder. “I think your phone is ringing” Sedayne removed one side of her headphones from her ears and groped around in her bag for her phone. “Hello” she answered. “Hello Sedayne, I have some good news for you” sang Erica from Eric Dainty Job Agency. Sedayne sat bolt upright on the edge of her seat and held her mobile with both hands, “okay” she said then held her breath. “well I have just had a call from Kinnerton Confectionery and they told me, that they would like to offer you the job” Forgetting where she was, Sedayne jumped up in her chair, hurtling her handbag and its contents onto the floor and startling the other commuters  “oh my. Oh. My. GOSH” Sedayne squealed bouncing up and down in her chair. Paul had gathered up her things and put her handbag back on her lap, mouthing the word “what?” as he did so. She held one finger up to him indicating that she needed a minute. Erica continued when she sensed that Sedayne was calming down “they also wanted to know how soon you will be able to start” Sedayne thought for a moment, she remembered something about giving two weeks’ notice but she would find a way to get out of that. “Erm I will need to check, but I think I could start on Monday” “That would be great, can you call me tomorrow to confirm” Erica asked. “Yes, yes of course and thank you so much Erica” Sedayne beamed. “No problem Sedayne and well done” Erica said before ending the call. Sedayne turned to Paul bouncing in her seat again “I got the job I got the job 25,000 a year Woohoo” she gushed. Paul laughed and used his hand caress her back “congratulations baby, i am so proud of you, and if you quiet down and be a good girl, we can stop off at Yates for a celebratory drink” Paul grinned down at her. Sedayne sat still, put on a straight face and replied with a pretend pout “Okaaaay”.

Sedayne and Paul had had far too many drinks and were now very merry. They were walking home holding each other up and giggle every minute. Sedayne stopped walking and turned to face Paul “I wanna marry you Paul Baxter and have your babies” she gushed giving Paul a wet sloppy kiss. “And I wanna marry you Sedayne Hawkins and have babies with you now, soooooo lets practice making them” Paul slurred pulling her close and putting his hand down her top and softly caressing her left breast. Sedayne giggled “not right now Paaaaul, look, a bus is coming, let’s get it home, and we can practice making babies there instead”. She said dragging him with her, as she ran towards bus stop.
