The REAL Raven

Hey!

—Raven's POV—

"Hey! What was that for?" Beast Boy glared at me after he swam back to the surface of the lake. He stayed in the water, standing at the bottom of the lake, the water reaching up to his waist.

I couldn't help it but laugh my head off. "Pffftttt...haha! I'm sooooo sorry!"

"Yeah right. You're only saying that to be nice and polite. Just admit it; you're not sorry," Beast Boy saw right through me.

"Hahaha! Okay, you got me!" I continued to laugh.

Apparently my laughs must have been very amusing to him because I saw him crack a smile. I continued laughing for a minute, then finally calmed down, taking deep breaths of the cool air. Soon, Beastie and I were just sitting there in the silence, enjoying each other's company for a minute.

"Ya know..." He broke the silence, "you have a nice laugh. You should laugh more often." He said truthfully.

I blushed. It's not exactly everyday a pale, goth half-demon hear those words. "Um...thank you..."

He smiled at my shyness and pulled himself up onto the blanket, where I was sitting. He was enjoying the scene.

"Hey! If you're going to sit right next to me, can you at least dry up?" I asked.

"Mmm.....nah," he shrugged.

"What? Why?"

"Don't feel like it."

"Get your lazy butt off the blanket and go dry yourself up first!" I ordered.

"Ugh....fine," He shape-shifted into a dog and started shaking his fur, splashing water all over my face. "Happy now?"

I glared at him. "You just splashed water all over me. Real romantic."

"I know right? I'm such a zentleman," he grinned.

"Zentleman? Here I am, out on a date with a "zentleman" who doesn't even know proper grammar. Real smooth," I scoffed.

We continued bickering like this for a while. After 30 minutes, we sat again in comfortable silence. During that moment I thought of what my idea of a perfect boyfriend was.

He would always be there to comfort and protect me. He wouldn't be the type to get all mushy. I prefer someone to keep me on my toes, someone I can argue with but in a teasing, harmless way. I want him to be unique, like no other. I want him to always try to be the one to make me smile.

Heh....like I'd ever find someone like that...that person would seem way too perfect to me! Unless....

I looked over to the person next to me. Beast Boy was sitting with his eyes closed, humming. Now that I think of it...

Beast Boy was all of that! His awful jokes gave me something to think about for making a comeback.  He made jokes in effort to make me smile. He protected me unconsciously, when the Beast took over his mind. He comforted me when I was heartbroken over Malchior. He's not the type to go all mushy. He is unique, and not just because of his green skin color and shape shifting powers, but also because of his past. He had a rough past but still continued to smile.

"How do you do it?" I asked out of the blue.

"Do what?" He turned to face me.

"Keep on smiling and be happy."

"It's not that hard to find happiness."

"Oh...where?"

"In people you love, places you enjoy, doing hobbies....like for example.....I find my happiness in you, Rae."

I stared at him.

He winced. "Yeah...that was cheesy. I know. Sorry."

"You have nothing to apologize for."

Then just like magic, we leaned forward. My arms wrapped around his neck just as his arms hugged my waist. Our eyelids slowly closed at the same time as our faces went closer and closer.

This time I knew I wasn't going to push him into the lake.

This time, I'm going to take a chance and live my life.

This time...I'm going to allow this.

And then our lips made contact with each other.

—Time Skip: next morning—
—3rd POV—
Starfire yawned and stretched as she started floating down towards the kitchen.

"Good morning, friends!" She merrily greeted.

The rest of the Titans greeted her back as they sat on the couch, watching a movie. Starfire looked at them with curiosity. She noticed how silent they seemed to be. "Why are you all the so quiet?" She questioned.

Robin and Cyborg looked at each other and decided not to say anything.

"Friends?" Star asked again. They still kept their mouths shut. She was starting to feel annoyed with their silence. "WHAT IS GOING ON?" Starfire bursted. She hated it whenever people close to her shunned her out. She had too much experience with that. (Blackfire)

"Beast Boy. Raven. Explain," Robin simply said.

"Come on, ya guys! You haven't let a single word out of your mouths about the date last night!" Cyborg pushed.

"And we intend to keep it that way," Raven said.

"BB? Don't tell me this is true..." Cyborg trailed off.

"Sorry guys, but if that's what Raven wants, I'll keep quiet," Beast Boy shrugged.

The first thought that immediately went to Star's, Robin's, and Cyborg's minds was that the date ended up a disaster.

"Excuse me, Friends," Starfire grabbed Robin and Cyborg into her room.

"What was that for?" Cyborg asked.

"Do you think that the romantic outing ended up to be a disaster?" Starfire got into business.

"Maybe, but if that was true, Raven would be avoiding contact with Beast Boy for a whole day, then muster up her courage to go outside of her room and be normal," Robin hypothesized.

"True. I had seen something that I must report to ya guys. Did you notice that when Raven was about to join us for watching the movie, she had two choices of where to sit. Between Robin and me, or next to Beast Boy. She chose to sit next to Beast Boy. And when she did, the two of them smiled at each other and continued watching the movie." Cyborg stated.

"You don't suppose..."Starfire trailed off.

"Yes," Robin answered.

"Heh. Turns out that the date was a success after all," Cyborg smirked in victory.

Starfire and Robin smiled along with Cyborg.

"C'mon, you two! Let's go over there and rub it in their faces!" Cyborg rushed off to the living room, followed by Robin and Star.
