As you guys may (July) be able to tell, I am in a Contestshipping mood.
No, this is not part of the Seven Kisses series.
This first part is NOT necessary to read. It's simply me practising writing battles, but it IS part of the storyline.
I kinda gave up towards the end XDDDDDD
May gritted her teeth as Blaziken went flying across the arena as Absol slashed its legs, arms, torso - that Absol was everywhere at once. Iron Tails and Night Slashes rammed down upon Blaziken, each ineffective blow chipping at her points and Blaziken's stamina. She commanded Blaziken to use Overheat, but Absol cleverly pulled a Razor Wind, and made a makeshift vortex of fire.
"Dammit, Blaziken, use High Jump Kick!"
Blaziken leapt up and its leg glowed silver - but the vortex of fire, sustained by gusting winds, crashed straight into his side and sent him rolling across the floor.
May sensed Drew's smirk without seeing it, and prayed that Blaziken would stand up - her Grand Contest was on the line here!
As if sharing a telepathic bond with her, Blaziken groaned its name and stood up.
"Absol, Razor Wind!"
Drew's eyes gleamed the gleam of victory, tasting his victory in the air. Blaziken had just registered the oncoming gale, and there was no room to dodge. The super-effective attack neared, and May froze, unsure, and her mind decided to fall back to the last resort.
She brought her hand to the mystery bracelet she had, and a light like no other lit up the stadium - one that shined white, blue, green, yellow and pink, radiating beautifully. A stone on a string shifted into view from Blaziken's furs. The whole crowd gasped at the display, but she wasn't over yet.
"Blaziken! Mega Evolve!" Her cry rang sharply in the stadium, drowning out the judges, the noise making it impossible to hear what the crowd was exactly saying.
The winds bounced right around Blaziken as that moment of Mega-Evolved invincibility took place.
Drew gaped slightly, but set his mouth into a straight line. His eyes no longer gleamed with victory.
"Absol, Razor Wind again! Make this one the strongest yet!"
True to Drew's command, the now hurricane-like force hurtled across the floor - but Drew was already too late. Blaziken's ability had began to kick in, and now, instead of growing more and more tired, he grew faster and faster.
"Blaziken, dodge, and use Sky Uppercut!"
Blaziken whipped around the winds, his fists leaving behind two glowing streaks -
and his fists slammed into Absol, the sheer power of it creating a shockwave that resonated all across the breathless stadium.
The buzzer went for a fainted pokemon even before the smoke from Blaziken's fiery fists cleared.
May had won.
---------
"Wow, that sure was something, huh?"
May gave Blaziken one last pokeblock and stood up to see Drew.
Drew pulled a rose out of nowhere - one day, May swore, she would take his blood and test it for signs of magic.
She caught it right between the thorns, an art she had perfected over the years.
"I never knew that bracelet... allowed you to... y'know"
"Soledad worked it out, so I was really praying you would defeat her." May said, finding it funny that Drew had no words.
Drew remained silent, and the air quickly felt incredibly awkward.
"Dammit, Drew, think!" thought Drew.
"D-Do you know the meaning of a rose?"
He regretted it the moment he said it. He'd been preoccupied with thinking, and had just noted how dense May was about those roses (for only the 124th time, not like he was counting).
"Uhhh....... well, sort of? It's represents some sort of feeling, right? See! I know things too!"
Drew felt his face burn, which was new. He'd blushed before, but never the indignifying red his face was right now.
"Dreeeeeww.... are you blushing?"
"W-Well... I don't think you want to know what they mean...."
"I do! Please, Drew!" May begged, acting as if she was quite a few years younger than she was.
"IT MEANS I LOVE YOU, OK?"
Drew gasped as he realised his voice had echoed all around the thankfully empty beach.
May started laughing so hard, it almost looked like she was crying. Drew looked up from his "omg I am so mortified oh look that shell is so interesting" stare, and looked quite concerned, but May simply waved him off, her dying laughter making her shoulders shake.
She looked up, a smirk-y grin quite unlike her spread across her face. "I just wanted you to say it to confirm it!"
Drew looked blankly at her, shellshocked that she made him do this "dance" for four years straight.
"Well Drew, I guess it's canon now! Think about all the Contestshipping fans...." she grabbed his hand, and electric sparks ran up his arm - the single most nerve-wrecking yet comforting feeling ever.
However, no amount of comforting could get the image of the screaming Contestshipping fans out of his head.
"L-Let's not mention this to the fans, ok...." he mumbled, quite pallid.
"LET'S ANNOUNCE THIS TO COORDINATORS' WEEKLY!"
Drew whited out!
"Drew?"
