"Yes, I got it the first time! Everyone is going to meet up at Mum and Dad's house on Christmas Day—yes, at three o'clock. I'll try to be there. Speak to you later." I said and hung up before they could speak again, shoving both it and my hand into my leather jacket's pocket—since it was bloody freezing.

I looked around me and sighed. The snow-covered pavements had hundreds of footprints stamped into them and the roads were so busy you could probably get out to grab a cup of coffee and still be back before the traffic moved. Everybody was doing the same thing: dashing around like headless chickens in order to buy presents or decorations.

Everybody except me.

My name is Theodore Edwards, Theo for short, and I'm twenty-one years young. I like to think I'm pretty good-looking—swished back chestnut hair, melted chocolate eyes you could get lost in, a piercing on each ear, six feet in height and in, uh, irresistible charm—but that's just my opinion. Others are allowed to be wrong (kidding). Oh, and I'm bisexual, which means I have twice the fun! Or so I tell my friends, anyway. In reality, I wasn't about casual fun.

I had spent the last god knows how many hours gradually dragging myself around the city of Aiwiy, a bustling but beautiful place that I am happy to have taken residence in for the last three years, glancing in windows to try and find something to buy for people but by no means was I rushing about. On the contrary, I was actually taking my sweet time. I didn't understand why people put themselves through such extreme stress for one sodding day.

In case you haven't realised by now, I was not a fan of Christmas. For me, this time of year was just a load of hassle for nothing. I spent the majority of it alone or working at my parent's company, although I rarely had to do that thanks to my parent's extensive wealth, and had nothing interesting to do. My parents, however, are big-time Christmas people. Every year, they decorate the house extravagantly and fill the house with so many knick-knacks that you practically trip over them. That's not to say I hated Christmas. I just never really got it; never really felt that magical Christmas spirit... that sparkle.

Pulling my coat closer to my chilly body, I finally gave up and decided to head back to my apartment and play some video games (because that's totally what an adult would do). I signalled for a cab that was passing by and got my phone out to check the time. 4:56 PM. I shook my head and put my phone away again as the cab pulled up at the curb. I opened the jet-black door, slightly sprinkled with freshly fallen snowflakes, and was about to get in when I heard a commotion behind me.

"S-Sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going. I'm so incredibly sorry!" A voice called out and I turned around.

There on the ground was the most gorgeous boy I'd ever seen, and by the looks of things around the same age as me. A wavy, caramel fringe poked out from beneath his grey beanie and covered his eyes slightly, but as he stood up I noticed them sparkle like diamonds. They were a most incredible shade of blue, similar to the deep azure one would see in the ocean. He had a slender figure and was quite a bit shorter than me, wearing a denim jacket with a fleece inside.

We made eye contact for but a millisecond before he spun on his heels and hurried on his way. I too was about to turn around when I noticed the boy had dropped something. On the floor was a square, cream envelope. It was bent and torn in places as well as damp from the cold. I picked it up, brushing off the snow with my thumb and revealing some neat handwriting. It was addressed to a "Mrs White".

Something told me I should go after him and return it.

So I did.

"Uh, never mind, I have to take care of something," I called out to the cab driver and closed the door, ignoring the annoyed look they gave me.
