((A/N: Hey y'all get ready for some sadness!! I've never written really angsty stuff so I'd love feedback on this. Sorry in advance!))
After they forced him out of the hospital, Holly and George stayed at Portland Row, making sure to monitor Lockwood. He seemed unstable, so Holly chose to stay instead of heading back to her roommate.
She took a moment to call her roommate, explaining their situation. She was very sympathetic and told Holly to update her whenever possible.
Holly agreed, then made her way back to George, who was leaning next to Lockwood's door.
"Any luck with him?" Holly whispered to him.
George shook his head grimly. "He still hadn't left," he said quietly.
Lockwood had been cooped up in his room ever since he had been forced out of the hospital. He hadn't left to eat or drink anything, and Holly was considering breaking down the door to convince him to leave.
Holly leaned in as George moved to whisper something to her. "I was waiting until you got here, but I've got the key to his room. We don't have to make him leave, but I at least want him to eat something."
Holly nodded, making a move to go downstairs as George stayed behind.
With Lucy's condition still festering at the back of her mind, she made a few sandwiches. She cut them diagonally, laying them elegantly on a platter out of habit. She reluctantly gave the plate to George, giving him a glass of water to go with it.
Holly left worriedly, but still trusted George to get through to him. She went to go make more for herself and George as well, because they hadn't been eating very much either.
As Holly was cutting bread for another sandwich, the phone rang from across the room. She ran over to it, because it was likely either her roommate asking how she was doing or the hospital's update on Lucy. Both were very important.
She picked up the phone and hesitantly brought it to her ear. A female voice spoke on the other end. "Hello? Is this Mister Lockwood?"
"No, this is Holly Munro; one of his associates. He's... unavailable now, so is there a message you'd like me to deliver to him?" Holly asked formally.
The voice hesitated, then responded, "We would like him to come down to the hospital for Miss Lucy Carlyle."
Holly's mouth went dry when she heard those words. "I-is she alright?"
The voice on the other side of the phone sighed. "I'm sorry ma'am, but we're not allowed to discuss matters like this over the phone. I assume you're also Miss Carlyle's associate, so we would like you here as soon as possible."
After a click on the other side, Holly hung up the phone and sprinted upstairs.
She ran to George, who was waiting patiently near Lockwood's room. She pulled him away from the door with a panicked expression on her face.
George yelped. "Whoa, Holly! What is it?"
She pulled George's arm and started to drag him to the door as she spoke. "We have to leave. It's Lucy."
