I felt someone watching me as I approached the school. Stopping, I looked around. Five boys and one girl was huddled together. They watched me, their faces identical masks of fear.
A small boy with taped up glasses stepped forward. "What the hell are you looking at?"
Feeling bold I responded "I could ask you the same thing."
Not feeling like waiting I turned on my heel and walked up the steps right into a wall.
Falling back I looked up and realized it wasn't a wall. It was a mullet wearing asshole. Henry grabbed the front of my sweatshirt and hauled me off my feet and into the air, before I could react. Behind him I saw the other three smirking.
"If it isn't the escape artist." Henry growled, fist tightening.
I grabbed ahold of his wrist, kicking my feet like a child. "Put me down!" My voice trembled. God it's like I'm five again.
Patrick said "Maybe escaping fridges is her act at the circus." They all chuckled like it was the funniest thing ever. Henry shook me slightly, making my teeth rattle.
"S-s-st-stop B-bowers." One the boys from the frightened huddle had come over.
Craning my neck I saw the others looking conflicted behind him. One of them took a long puff on his aspirator. I yelped as Henry suddenly dropped me. I thudded onto the stairs and tumbled down them. Like a sack of potatoes I stayed crumpled there. Waiting for the world to stop spinning.
A hand on my arm tugged at me, and I looked up to see the one girl. Her red hair blazed in the sunlight. Seeing my face she gulped and shivered. I allowed her to help me to my feet.
Henry looked like he was about pummel the stuttering boy when a teacher ran out of the building, screeching like a crazed bird.
The Bowers gang stalked off as the group surrounded me. They all looked terrified of me. The girl introduced herself as Beverly and then pointed at the rest of them. Billy, Richie, Eddie, Ben, and Stan.
When she was done they all looked at me expectingly. "I'm Ezra."
Billy shifted uneasily. "W-w-what are y-y-y-you do-doing h-here?"
"What do you mean?" I glanced around at all of them.
"You look like a clown!" Eddie wheezed, his voice high.
"Great observation skills." I said sarcastically. "I just moved here."
The bell rang, and I turned to walk away when I heard Ben whisper "She looks a lot like Pennywise."
I spun around and they jumped back, I must of looked crazy as I said harshly. "What'd you just say?"
"Nothing!" He squeaked.
"What do you know about Pennywise?" I asked urgently, stepping towards him.
They looked at each other, panicked. "W-w-what d-d-d-d-d-do y-y-y-you kn-kn-know?"
The teacher from earlier came out and began to screech at us to get to class as I said "He's my father."
I left them to make of it what they will as I ran up the steps and into the school.
