I landed behind my father and the losers looked at me in horror as I lunged at Mike, my teeth sliding through my gums like butter.
I could feel my father's grin at my back. I was doing this for him. I didn't want to hurt Mike. I didn't want to hurt any of them, but I wouldn't let them hurt my father when I had spent all my life trying to find him.
I felt a pair of thin arms wrap around my waist and arms, holding me back with all their might. Mike grabbed a hold of my face, avoiding my snapping teeth. Fingers digging into the soft skin behind my ears.
I could hear Pennywise and the rest of the losers scuffling behind me. Stan's arms tighten around me as Mike leaned away from me. "Ezra, please listen!"
I continued to growl and kept my teeth out and visible, but stopped trying to bite at him. He drifted a little closer. "You don't have to do this. You don't owe him anything."
I let my teeth retract just enough to speak, though it still sounded muffled by the the pointy fangs. "He's my father and you're trying to kill him! I don't have a choice!"
"Of course you do!" Mike shouted. His breath hot against my face.
"No I don't!" I screamed back. "I can't just stand by and let you kill him!"
Mike sounded on the verge of tears as he pleaded. "Help us! Please!"
In answer I snarled and tried to jerk out of Stan's grip. Leaned as far forward as I could trying to get at Mike's shoulder. He jumped back, but wasn't quite fast enough. My tooth nicked his arm, and a drop of blood spread across my tongue. It seemed light a fire in my belly and I gasped at the powerful shiver went through me. Stan must have felt it, because he whimpered into my neck. Mike looked at the small, oozing scratch and gave me a sad look.
Tired of Stan's arms around me and fueled by Mike's blood bubbling in my gut, I flung my head back, smashing into his face. He grunted and let go off me, stumbling away and clutching his nose.
I roared, sounding more monstrous than human, and jumped at Mike. He twisted away at the last second and toppled past him. I quickly regained my feet and turned to face him again. Mike held his hands out, as if trying to subdue me. I paced towards him. Stalking lightly, ready to pounce, light on my feet. Continuous growls rumbled past my bared teeth as Mike slowly backed away.
I could tell by the way he was looking at my eyes that they had turned their primal yellow. A distorted smile crossed my lips and saliva flooded my mouth at the whiff of fear on the air. The strong scent of blood urged me on and I feinted to the left. Mike jumped to the right and I dived after him, latching my many teeth onto his arm.
Mike let out a yelp and a fist full of my hair, using it to rip my head away from him. I huffed in pain as strands of my white hair were yanked out. Hand still tangled in my knotted hair, Mike pulled back his arm and let it crash into my jaw.
Stars crackled behind my eyes, but I kept my feet. Stan's foot kicked my hard in the back of the knee, and I fell to the sewer floor with a irritated grunt. Mike punched me again before hefting me onto his muscled shoulder.
I tried to focus through my daze. As Mike hurried towards something I began gnash my sharp teeth together as I tried to kick at the boy or wiggle away from him. He ignored my weak attempts and then he let go.
I spiraled down, down, down into the darkness, a scream lodged in my throat.
An impact forced the air out of me and red flashed behind my eyes.
🤡
I woke up crying.
A soft gloved hand was stroking my face. "Dad...." I croaked, my voice hoarse.
"Shhh... Ezie. They've bested us." I felt him push some hair behind my ear.
I felt him lift me up from the ground and cradled me against his chest. I cuddled into him, trying absorb his warmth into my broken body.
"Let's rest, my girl."
I nodded against his chest, and we slept.
