I walked into the Daly Community Center as I looked into the bright lights that filled the lobby. I approached the front desk, asking for a signup sheet. I was signing up for the Light is Here program. It sounded like a religious group but it was for helping dark hairs change their ways and gain bright-colored hair. I felt so excited to make a change, this program is a start to ending society differences and darks and lights can live peacefully together. I wrote Joseph Frederick Patel onto the sheet and put basic information. I turned in the sheet and walked out of the center as the sun shone down on me.

I got a call and the guy I'd be helping become brighter would be arriving this afternoon. It was Kaleb Cavander. On the dull side of town, on the edge of the bright side, lived Kaleb. I had seen him at school and I caught his eye contact every now and then. I never thought much of it though. Besides, I was excited and ready. At precisely 3:00, the doorbell rang and I fast walked to the door. I opened the door to see Kaleb.

I was taken aback as he stood there. He looked odd though, he seemed to just have grabbed whatever was closest to him to wear. His black hair fell over his forehead and, he wore a large black jacket even though the September chill wasn't that harsh.

"Hey, Kaleb is your name, right?" I asked with a slight joyful tone.

"Um.. Yeah. And you are?" Kaleb responded.

"I'm Joey! How excited are you for this program?" I exclaimed.

"Whatever," Kaleb said and walked into the house.

Kaleb sat on the couch and I closed the door and sat on the couch across from him. We awkwardly looked at each other. Finally, I spoke in and asked about his hobbies and favorite things to do. He took a second then he responded with sleeping and lounging. I asked all the questions like I was interviewing him. He finally asked me a question.

"Well, I wanna know, why are you the perfect child, the famous one, the one that everyone looks up to?"

"I mean it's mostly my parents wanting me to succeed, so I did as many academics and extracurriculars as I could-"

"Yeah, yeah. You did everything, everyone saw your greatness and you became the top,"

"Uh, yeah. Is that bad?"

"I guess not,"

Then, Kaleb acted like he didn't want to talk anymore.

"How about we head out, to the park or something?" I offered.

After a grunt from Kaleb, we both got up. I alerted my mom of my departure, and we walked out the door. We walked down a few blocks, around the corner, and then down a few more blocks. We arrived at the entrance to the park. It was a nice little walking park. No playground, just benches, walking paths, and nature.

As we walked through the park, we got to the heart of the park where there was a fountain. Kaleb and I noticed a 20$ bill on the ground. Kaleb picked it up and was about to pocket it, as I grabbed his hand.

"Find the owner." I said and smiled.

"Fine." He said arrogantly.

I watched as he walked around, asking different people if they owned the dollar. A majority of them had bright-colored hair and ignored Kaleb, or shoved him to the side, as society norms. Then this one bright-colored hair girl looked up to Kaleb as he asked about the dollar very uncaringly. The girl smiled and said it was her's. She thanked him, and he didn't seem to care. Kaleb walked away but he had a slight grin. As he walked, a lock of hair on the side of his head, slowly turned to a silver color.

"Good job. Your first deed." I applauded.

"Um, yeah." Kaleb said and started walking away.

"Hey wait!" I exclaimed. "Wanna meet on Saturday?"
