The next day, Kaleb invited me to his house. He wanted to hang out and stuff, so that Friday, I came over after school. We got to his house and his parents greeted me like they always did. We went straight to Kaleb's room, and his cat, Moon, was on his chair.
"I found out Moon like to chase string, yarn, rope, anything like that." Kaleb said.
"Oh, that's cool."
Kaleb got out a long piece of string, and instantly Moon tensed up. He lunged at the string, catching it with his hands. Kaleb lured him to the bed, where Kaleb sat down, and Moon got into Kaleb's lap. It was a beautiful sight to see. I sat down next to Kaleb, and petted Moon, and Moon accepted my touch as well as Kaleb's.
We sat there for a while just giving Moon our affection. Then Moon jumped down to the floor. We played with the string, pulling it from one side to the other, and Moon chased it and jumped after it. It was fun watching him jumping, and we both ended up laughing.
We also got a few cat treats which Kaleb had boughten and we gave Moon a treat when he did a high jump or If he caught the string. I also noticed the cat's food and water dish was sitting in the corner of the bedroom.
"Hey, weren't those out in the kitchen?"
"Yeah, they were. My dad is allergic to cats we found out, so he just has to stay in my room or I can take him outside every now and then."
Kaleb gave Moon one last treat and then we got him to jump back on the bed. This time, he sat on my lap and started purring.
"Awe, he likes you," Kaleb commented.
"Yeah, that's a good thing," I said.
We petted Moon again for a little while, before I lifted him up and put him on the chair. I looked at Moon, and then I turned to look at Kaleb. I grabbed a sketchbook that I started carrying in my school backpack.
"Can you... help me draw Moon?"
"Oh! Yeah, of course."
I sat down next to Kaleb, and he held my hand with the pencil in it, and we guided across the paper. He would always look up at Moon, and point out a shadowing part, or where we needed more detail. He told me about making one side smaller than the other so it looks like Moon is turned to the side.
After a while, we had created a portrait of Moon. I was really proud of it, and I thanked Kaleb for helping me. Kaleb took a pen, and signed his name at the bottom. He handed it to me. I hesitated for a moment, but then I signed the bottom as well like a declaration of rights.
I searched his desk, finally finding a pin. I took it and was about to pin the drawing on his wall, when Kaleb came up behind me, putting a hand on my arm.
"Take it home, and put it on your- No, our memory board."
"Oh, okay."
I took it down and returned the pin to his desk. I put the drawing in my backpack, and I sat back on Kaleb's bed next to him. He smiled at me and cheered for me.
"That was a good drawing by the way. I'm proud."
"Thanks"
We both laughed.
"Well, since you're here, did you want to sleep over?"
"That sounds like a fun idea; I can see this little furball more."
I motioned to Moon, and he seemed to look up at me, making a confused meow. Kaleb and I laughed, and I called my mom. She asked questions about how long I would be there, and dinner plans. I told her not to worry, and she finally approved. I got off the phone, and lounged in Kaleb's bed.
