Christmas is the best time to hang out with your family and friends, especially your boyfriend. I was busy helping my parents prepare the dinner table when my phone rang. The caller ID read Mark. Quickly picking it up, I held it to my ear.
"Hey, (y/n)!"
"Hey, Mark. Are you coming over yet? Dinner's about to start soon and I don't want you to miss my mother's delicious cooking."
"I'll be over in a bit because right now there's quite a bit of snow fall and traffic is backed up. If I do get there late, save some of that delicious eggnog for me, OK?"
"No problem. Stay safe out there for me."
"Sure thing sweetheart." He hung up the call. I continued to set the table and add some seasoning into the Christmas ham. "(Y/n), who was that?" asked my mom.
"You remember I told you that my boyfriend is coming over for dinner? Well...he's gonna be late because of the heavy snowfall."
She glanced out the window. "Oh yeah, you're right." My mother was busy all day that she must have lost track of the outside world.
"I'm sure he'll be fine, darling," she assured me. "Now go help with the other dishes." When we had everything set, I called the rest of my family to come to dinner and we said our prayers before we ate.
I was taking in several mouthfuls of food, tasting the flavours of every dish, when a sudden sound made me jump. The doorbell had rang.
"I got it!" Yes, he's finally here. When I opened the door, Mark was there holding up a mistletoe in his hand. I had fallen right into his trap.
"You bastard. What if someone else had opened the door?"
"Well, I just had a really strong feeling that you would come to the door, 'cause you know, you're my girlfriend." He gave me a warm smile. Enough to melt the snow on his jacket.
"Now come over here and give me your best kiss." I moved a little closer and wrapped my arms around his waist. The snow outside was falling heavily and I didn't get my coat from the closet. My hands and face were feeling colder by the second. I gave him a soft peck on the cheek. His look of disappointment almost made me laugh.
"Aww, come on (y/n). That's hardly fair."
"You'll get your fair share once you get in here, out of the bloody cold weather and enjoy some tasty food." Mark kicked off his boots and walked inside the warm, cozy house. "Hey everyone!" He waved hello to my family. "Hope I'm not too late for the food."
"Hello, Mark. Nice of you to join us. Take a seat." My father gestured to the empty seat. I then sat next to him, wanting so badly to hug him and kiss him. We finally dug into my mother's delicious Christmas ham, mashed potatoes, minced pie and pudding for dessert. And to wash it all down we had champagne for the adults and eggnog for the young ones.
After dinner, most of my family went to the living room to talk or play with their phones while me and Mark went to my room. I turned on some soft Christmas songs from my iPod playlist and put it onto the speaker. We lay on the bed, with bellies stuffed with food. I leaned against his shoulder, cuddling him for warmth. "I haven't felt this full since forever."
"Yeah, your mother's cooking is delicious. But my mom's cooking is better."
"Oh yeah? Next time I'll go over and have a taste. I'm an excellent critic on food." Mark chuckled. I placed my hand on his chest, feeling it rise and fall with each breath. I moved in closer to him, looking up into his sparkling brown eyes. I cupped his face and kissed him full on the lips. He moaned as he opened his mouth, letting me taste his tongue. I pulled away for breath. "Mmm, (y/n)..."
