Mrs Jeon had found her son in a pool of his own shining blood. His godlike body convulsing, legs and torso filled with incisions, head lolling side to side; this must be his nervous system playing up. His Adam's apple was bobbing ferociously as he was spluttering and holding onto the last strings of life.
After all, Jungkook was still human.
The guests had only left once Satan and his demons left them. They were laughing as though nothing had even happened.
No matter how hard Mrs Jeon banged on the door, it wouldn't budge. She slid down to her knees, head in her palms and was crying her eyes out. She's lived her whole life for Jungkook, he was her baby, and she was nothing without him. Of course Mr Jeon would have another son, heck, he probably has a mountain load of bastards, but Mrs Jeon wasn't upset at the revelation of that officer being his flesh as she was distraught by the sight of her Kookie once the bolted doors did open.
Needless to say, no mother should ever witness what was once in her womb for nine months being reduced to a shrivelling mess. No mother should ever have to wipe the chugging blood from her son's mouth with trembling fingers to stop him from choking to death on it.
No mother should have to see her son naked and abused.
It was enough to drive a mother crazy, scar her for life and wish she had aborted her child rather than it being subjected to something out of her control.
Yet Mrs Jeon had learnt to be a statue, and she'd created barriers made out of stone. But even statues crumble; even they cannot take a certain limit.
Lying in the corner was an unconscious Bogum in his own urine. But whilst Jungkook did still have Mrs Jeon, Bogum had no one. His mother was far away somewhere in the world, she ran away as soon as he was born. His brothers had different mums.
The Jeon men all have one thing in common; they suffer from loneliness. No woman ever stays by their side for too long, and maybe this is why they couldn't bear to see the youngest Jeon fall in a love so pure.
But here Jungkook is, fighting for life in a pale white room with three machines beeping on either side of his once arrogance infested body.
Mr Jeon was as usual, nowhere to be seen and Mrs Jeon did what every Jeon woman does; she ran away to Busan. She couldn't take it anymore and the ceremony was the final straw. If her baby did wake up, he was welcome to live with her, but she couldn't continue to dwell in a living hell where luxuries were the chains. After staying with her son until the doctors took him under their wing, she jumped on the next available train to her parents.
She doesn't want to see Mr Jeon again, and she definitely doesn't want to hang about to see Seokjin walk around her house.
A boy who's mother slept with her husband.
She would go crazy or kill him, and she doesn't want any more blood on her hands. For every killing attributed to the Jeon's, a part of Mrs Jeon dissipated. No one knew her by Jiyeon anymore; they just knew her as the damned mother who gave birth to sick boys.
So if you think about it, she had every right to disappear.
But she did leave something behind for Jungkook to read when he woke up.
Ankles shattered, wrists ruined and emotional state even more unstable than ever, Jeon Jungkook was using the support of a life machine to breathe. The misty fog under his gas mask signalled his lifeline every time it clouded and cleared.
He had been like this for three days now.
The nurses came to check on him before turning on their heels and consulting a doctor who'd stagger in, write new reports, new notes and new patient information. The Seoul sunshine would gleam bright and the private hospital being near a nursery, allowed innocent laughter to roll in alongside the summer ambience, but Jungkook never woke up. The hospital staff would click all light switches off save the night shift nurses; they would all chuckle, giggle and plan their nights whilst the raven haired boy was wrestling with the deities to keep his.
