April witnessed another spring falling as it does, accompanied by dainty petals of cherry blossom and winter remnants of cool winds. But one heart thuds louder than the swirling winds. One heart is pounding with nerves.
For this particular heart eagerly anticipates the moment when another agrees to be tied with love forever.
Sitting comfortably under the warm shade of a small willow tree were Kim Mina and Jeon Jungkook.
The early afternoon sun was shining brightly, but the two lovers were coolly grazking shoulder to shoulder, back against the thick trunk of the old willow. The odd squirrel was racing up in a spiral shape, adding to the serenity of the scene. Flexible branches of the tree were drooping down majestically, caging the two like a beautiful masterpiece away from the cruel world which had consistently tested their relationship. Yet, the both had pulled through and were finally enjoying unruffled moments together, inhaling the other's fragrance and closing their eyes only to open them to a reality.
A reality which was finally beautiful.
Jungkook's heart was now threatening to explode from his chest - but a small, square box was keeping the impatient organ in place.
Although they were just about adults now, both still had a passion for the arts. If you recall, Seoul Art Institution accepted students with a gift exceeding mere talent. Jungkook's gift was composing music and drawing whilst Mina's was ballet, piano and singing.
And so, as any Romeo would do, Jungkook is currently using one of his gifts to paint a portrait of his best present.
"What are you drawing Kookie?" Came a soft question, breaking the silence which had surrounded them since they found this park.
The boy flickered his doe eyes down as the gold light peering through each thin, flexible branch of the willow bounced off her features. Children's laughter and running could be heard in the distance.
"You're so beautiful," he muttered.
Mina let her head drop on his shoulder, secretly trying to glance at the drawing. Jungkook grinned before lifting up his elbow. His sweet vanilla fragrance coupled with warm spring, air made her eyes close.
His long fingers were sketching a masterpiece, eyes concentrating on every flick and shade, "Just wait a little longer my love."
Smiling, the girl couldn't stop the tears falling. This moment too good to be true and her heart was refusing to believe it would last because the demons were still hovering around. One bitch called anxiety and one called depression.
"So much has changed, so much has happened. Why do I feel so old?" She chuckled, voice quivering.
Mouth parted in concentration, "You aren't old. We have our entire lives ahead of us."
Opening her eyes fully, "But..." she was searching for something to say, something to worry about.
Placing his pencils down; the boy pivoted to face her as he cupped her cheeks, fingertips tracing the top of her ears, "But nothing. Haha, it's finished." He rubbed his neck nervously.
The drawing was finished. This wasn't the best proposal, it was nothing compared to the age old grandeur of the Jeon's; but this was Jungkook's heart. This is what he knows how to do because it's coming from his soul.
The truth is; love is only love when your soul is touched. Hearts are easily swayed and easier broken. The soul however, the soul only saves itself for its other half destined to attach.
Jungkook continued, staring into the eyes of his half, "It's not much, but it's all for you."
Mina chuckled, "Let's see then!"
