Alpha Blood

Chapter 2

Something warm and wet slithered over my forehead and I winced away from it still drowned by the haziness of sleep.

I took in how comfortable I was, how foreign yet familiar this all felt and without warning I sat bolt upright in bed scaring the life out of my mum.

She had dark circles under her eyes, the fresh, happy look she always carried no matter what, was gone as she sat next to my bed with a small flannel and bowl of warm water in her hands.

I looked her straight in the eye asking her so many questions without speaking and she smiled a small sad smile.

“How are you feeling?” she spoke softly but I could hear the anger behind her words that thankfully wasn’t directed at me.

I nodded not trusting my voice yet and attempted to smile but my cut lip was still healing which made it almost impossible.

She set the bowl on the floor and wrung her hands nervously on her lap as I sunk back into the cushions that lined my bed.

I couldn’t believe I was finally home nothing had changed, i inspected my room, still the same deep purple walls and turquoise bed spread, the only thing that had changed were the people in it.

I looked over her questioningly silently asking her what was wrong.

She looked back up, her eyes glazed over with tears.

“You’ve been asleep for 3 days,” she told me, but I didn’t understand how that could make her upset normally after a werewolf is injured they sleep for a long period of time while there body heals itself.

“What’s… the matter?” I croaked and immediately she had a finger to my lips silencing me.

“shhhh, shhhh, don’t try to talk, please.” She begged worry etched in her expression. I nodded my head to tell her I wouldn’t do it again.

“You only have 4 days left, one week was all he gave you.” she said allowing the tears to fall and my memory twigged, remembering what the alpha had said.

“that son of a bit-,” this time it was my turn to silence her, I didn’t want her to become bitter she was always such a happy person although now that I think of it she had always hated the alpha ten times more than everyone else, fair enough everyone disliked him but she hated him with a burning passion.

“You only have 4 days, then you have to leave the pack, our mental connection will be broken and we are charged to never seeing you again.” She broke down resting her head on my lap, whist I stroked her hair comfortingly.

"has he already broken my alpha order?" i asked stunned, 4 days was nothing but that wasnt what worried me, i knew they wouldnt be able to come with me.

"yes, sweety." she touched my face tenderlty tears trickling from her eyes.

My dad burst into the room sensing his mates’ sadness and through an arm over her shoulder looking apologetically at me.
