BEFORE YOU READ: hey everyone ! thanks for checking out my story! This is fan fiction from a show called Stranger Things! This is my first story, so please don't hate on me, but let me know some feedback on how I can improve! If you came from my Instagram, thank you! (@strangerthingscastposts) Also, I am making the characters kinda my own, in some perspectives that have not been explored so it might be a little different. Also, since it will help the story make more sense, I am going to be using texting. I know I know! The real story is set before cell phone use. But many people do this and it will help my story a lot! I might be using other things from our everyday world to help move the story along, but since once again, it's all fan fiction, it doesn't have to make sense. This part will take place right after the ending of season two. I'm going to try to make every part pretty long, 1000 words minimum. Sorry if it's cringy or whatever, I'm a big fan and yeah. Anyways, thank you again for reading! Enjoy!

          ( WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! )

                                 / Mike /

I looked at Eleven. She looked how I felt. Purely happy. All this year I waited and waited for her. I knew she would come back. But when she came through that door my heart stopped. Now all I felt was happiness. I had fulfilled my promise. I looked into her eyes, smiling. But she wasn't looking at me.

I looked around in wonder. I had never seen anything like it! Everything sparkled. So much pretty. I glanced back at Mike. He was staring at me, smiling softly. I blushed and looked at the floor.

"Wanna go get something to drink?" Mike asked softly. Blushing more, I nodded and followed him off the floor. When we stopped at the drink stand, Mike's older sister, Nancy, was handing out drinks. She smirked at Mike. "Hey." I glanced at Mike to see him blushing furiously. "Nancy." He stared at her. She poured our drinks, still smirking, and handed them to us. "Have fun," She said, smiling. Mike rolled his eyes and pulled me away. "Lets go sit down," he said. I nodded, I could tell he was upset. We went over to an empty table. Mike looked into my eyes. He opened his mouth, looking like he wanted to tell me something important, when the table shook by Dustin sitting down. "Hey guys," he said breathlessly. "Hi." I said softly. Mike was looking at the floor, blushing furiously. Dustin drank his punch quickly, then burped. Lucas and Max joined us at the table. "Where's Will?" Dustin asked. "Dancing with that girl still," Lucas said. "Look how uncomfortable he is!" We all laughed as we watched Will dance. "I bet he just doesn't want to hurt her feelings by saying no," Max said. I stared at her. I didn't know what to think of her. Everyone else seemed so comfortable around her, but I didn't know her at all. She seemed too eager to be my friend. Once I made it clear I didn't want to be her friend, she backed off. She looked at me and I glanced away, embarrassed. I didn't want to be her friend. Did I?

I collapsed in bed. The product in my hair was horrible. I had to wash my hair three times to get it out. I blushed slightly as I thought of the snow ball...Lucas...and our kiss. I didn't even know what was happening until it happened. I hesitated, then pulled out my phone. I smiled as I saw a new text from him.

LUCAS : I had a really good time tonight.
MAX: me too
LUCAS: see u tomorrow?
MAX: don't be late!
LUCAS: good night
LUCAS: ❤️

blushing furiously, I hesitated to text back.

MAX: good night :)

ugh. I pushed my face into the pillow. I didn't know what to respond. I had finally decided on a smily face, but now it seemed awkward. I groaned as the text switched to read. He didn't respond again. Sighing, I plugged my phone in and switched off my light. I fell asleep, thinking about what was to come.

// the next morning //

I felt horrible. I must have drank way too much punch last night. I brushed my teeth and ran down the stairs to the kitchen. I ate my breakfast quietly, watching Billy across the room. He didn't say anything to me. He hasn't for a month. I put my dishes away and left the house. I checked my watch and sighed. Late. A couple minutes later Lucas pulled up on his bike. "What took you so long?" I asked, annoyed. "I got.. caught up." He avoided my question. "You getting on or not?" Angrily, I climbed on the back of his bike. I took some deep breaths. I needed to calm down. He couldn't have done anything that he needed to lie about, right? I wanted to say something to him, but thinking about our kiss made me blush and I didn't say anything. Finally we pulled up to Mike's house. He was pulling his bike across the lawn, frowning. "What's wrong?" I asked. Mike looked at me, upset. "El is at Hopper's still." He pulled himself onto his bike and we took off. "What's wrong with that?" Lucas asked. "Isn't that where she has been staying?" Mike glanced away, upset. "Well, yeah, but I assumed she would come stay with me once she came back." I frowned. "Wouldn't that be awkward?" Mike glared at me. "No! She stayed with me before..." Lucas laughed lightly. "I think that was different. She lives with Hopper now. Get over it." Mike turned his glare to him. "What's your problem?!" He peddled furiously down the hill, passing us quickly by. Lucas shook his head. "I don't understand why he's so upset about it. She lives there now." I nodded, but I didn't say anything. I thought there might be more to this story.

I looked out the window. I missed Mike. I always missed Mike. I hadn't seen him since the snow ball. Hopper kept making excuses. "What's wrong?" He asked, coming up behind me. "What do you think?" I asked grumpily. "I already told you," He said. "It's still not safe for you to be outside." I swung around and glared at him. "No! Mike." I stormed into my room and slammed the door. Collapsing onto my bed, I began to cry. Hopper didn't come after me. I cried for what seemed like forever. I guess I fell asleep at some point, because I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on my door. "Go away," I grumbled. The door opened anyway. I was about to yell at Hopper, when Mike appeared in the doorway. "Mike," I said breathlessly, jumping to my feet. "El," He whispered, grabbing me into a hug. I pressed myself into him, worried and happy and angry all at the same time. "Where have you been?" I asked, hurt. He frowned. "I wanted to visit you, I did. I've just been busy and... I couldn't come." I shook my head. "You're here. Now." Mike nodded. "I'm here now." Mike glanced around my room. He'd never been here before. He smiled as he looked at where I stayed. "So this is it, huh?" He asked. "Not much," I replied. "I love it." He said, turning to me. He took my hand, and I felt shivers run up my spine. He looked into my eyes, and leaned closer, and then- "Guys, are you coming or what?" Will poked his head inside the door. We jumped apart and I blushed. "Um- yeah. We're coming." Mike took my hand again and, smiling at me, took me out. Happily I followed him. "Where are we going?" I asked. "You'll see. Somewhere special." He answered. Laughing, I followed him without a doubt.
